Winter 2020-2021 :cold:

All observations are in Tecumseh, OK unless otherwise noted.

Winter posts are focused mainly for Oklahoma & Texas.

Take any of my forecasts with a grain of salt, refer to the NWS, SPC, and NHC for official information

Never say Never with weather! Because ANYTHING is possible!

Thanks for sharing Ice, I noticed the gentleman walking down his street, turns to wave as the drone passes, an example of a typical Florida resident, resourceful, tough, resilient, and just plain nice in the wake of Ian...

Something that will certainly be retrospected-on after the cleanup is finished.

TBF they didn’t have to be in the cone to get the surge effects they did. It was a big storm.

Yeah, but everything changed fast, I including surge forecasts. This was a Tampa storm that shifted SE…by a lot.

Would you agree that it was kind of likely though that it would? Seemed sort of obvious to me the way the trough was coming down. It’s only 95ish miles as the crow flies from Tampa to Cayo Costa. Forecast did change more than they usually like to but western Florida storms do seem to have some surprise factors.

Anyone else feel like Ian's reported wind field as per NHC is way too big? What are they basing this on? It's definitely not on-the-ground observations. I was in the Tropical Storm Wind Field for nearly a full day yesterday and we definitely never got 40 mph sustained wind speeds (although we did have some gusts in that level), and I was outside for a while and easily able to see what was going on.

I'm not a meteorologist, I'm an electronics engineer. While I can probably fix your toaster oven, you're not going to learn about storms from me!

New Mexico had no hurricanes. Then I moved to NC right before Fran.....
