Pre-Frontal Showers Bring Much Needed Rain to My Area
It has been raining off and on here for the past couple of hours. We have picked up about a tenth of an ich of light rain from some island effect convergence showers in advance (note in advance) of a front which will come through overnight tonight. It is now about 75-100 miles NW of Point Conception. I am curious as to how rare (or common) pre-frontal showers are. :-?

Pre-frontal showers and thunderstorms are common in most of the United States from say, late March/April through August/early September. In the winter, snow tends to be behind the cold front.
I am not exactly sure what is common in California when it comes to pre-frontal activity.
