We thought that a drying trend would come to Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands from saturday but that is not the case as you can read from the discussion some more wet days are instored for us as the trough retrogrades west and with the grounds very saturated any light shower will cause flash floods.

As I type this in San Juan the sun is out with some clouds. But last night a heavy shower came to the metroflex around 2:00 AM.

we had a heavy storm last night which lasted about 6 hours
but this morning the sun is shining!
YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!
now if I understand the discussion correctly, a trough will come back this way passing over the islands again? bringing more rain?
and the ground is so saturated already

Yes you read it right but hopefully if it is going to retrograde west again will be more weak than when it was stationary over us.

This is the energy spilt that I talked about in the Hate to Break This thread a couple of days ago ... however, fortunately, the deepest moisture will be long gone and heavy rains should only be isolated at best ...

The latest models have quite an ocean storm taking shape now from the energy splitting off ... and gets quite interesting ... but fortunately well away from anything and in the middle of nowhere.

This afternoon in San Juan is has clouded up with some light showers with fresh north winds. At the south coast of the island it is raining more heavy with 1-2 inches that we dont need.We can expect scattered showers tonight and on sunday as the frontal trough moves into the area. The latest discussion that you can read at the link above says that the front will stall and that is not good because more rain will fall if that scenario unfolds.

Last night and early this morning bands of moderate to sometimes heavy rain came down from the north as a frontal trough arrived prolonging the flash flood watch for all of Puerto Rico until 6:00 PM sunday evening with the chance to extend it as events warrant. But this morning fresh air comming from the NE and big surf in the coasts ae the highlights but more scattered showers will dot PR,the VI and the leewards as it the frontal trough will become stationary so still IT IS NOT OVER YET :( .

Obviously not over yet...heavy rains during the night and a short mild one this morning. But the wind has picked up, which if we are lucky will blow away the 170 zillion mosquitos starting to hatch...That next huge black cloud you will see over the Caribbean won't be moisture! :(
But I DID get the vehicle out of the mud with the help of a neighbor!

I am sooo sick of this weather!!!!!!!!!!
 :x  :x :( :grrr: :grrr: :bad-words: :bad-words:

latest St. Maarten forecast:

A frontal system located in the vicinity of Hispaniola is moving eastward and will be influencing the local condition on late Sunday and Monday. Also there is an elongated low pressure trough which continues to remain in place across the region through Tuesday. This low level trough extending across the islands will begin to slowly drift westward today and move back early monday morning. Therefore we can expect little change in this current weather condition throughout this forecast period. The atmosphere conditions will remain very moist and unstable through at least Tuesday. As a result of this we can expect widely spread rainfall and occasionally scattered showers across the islands. Otherwise a frontal boundary is inducing North to Northeasterly swells which are currently reaching our coastal waters.

I think it's getting to everyone Msbee...a girlfriend of mine literally started crying this morning when the rain picked up again...and tempers are starting to get a bit frayed as work backs up and visitors stay away...or show up and are pretty unhappy. I just keep saying to myself...99% of the time, it's Paradise...and sometimes it's Paradox.

Yeah here in Puerto Rico many people want to see the sun up all day to then go to the beaches but with this kind of weather the beaches haved been almost empty but only the surfers are happy right now with the big surf.

I am watching that cluster of convection north of ST Marteen and NE of St Thomas to see if it is going to affect the islands especially the VI and PR with rain that we dont need. But nothing is going to develop tropicalwise because simply upper conditions are not favorable.
