I just read up on the 2009 snowstorm. I remember that vaguely since I was in Abilene at my wife's family at the time. I remember wishing the heavier snow to the north would go south. But, we got a few inches at least.

This seems potentially eerily similar with the blizzard potential.

This is a much bigger event as far as synoptics. Cold air is much stronger and HP not even in the same league.

No, that storm had a lot of qpf because it went neutral to neg tilt and cut up hard. Great for Oklahoma. We would need an El Paso -> Iowa type track.

Wow, the high is not even close to what is on the models. Wow. I can't imagine it going too far north with that powerful of a high. We were planning on going west to Abilene on Friday, but that could prove difficult since the roads will not melt off the snow if it does happen.

Yeah the scare up north, even us, is that it gets too cold and suppresses everything.

Holy moly! I'm seeing a serious underestimation of the storm system on the models!

On another note, the east coast may go the whole month of December and completely flop . Unless they live in Buffalo where it never stops snowing (what another 20" from lake effect?) All that -NAO and little to show for it. We've been lucky the past couple of years.

Seems like the old saying "Be Careful what you ask for" is well suited for this storm. 2021 here in E. Texas ruined me on snow especially with all the rolling blackouts. Not worth not being able to get out and do things on Christmas break from school I work at. Prayers for everyone that gets hard by this. Whatever it will do.

Yeah. The vorticity maps and trends. Absolutely that precip is not off the table. It’s getting more bullish

Amen we just have to wait run by run day by day. Miller Light and Jack Fire makes the time stand still. Cold is coming just waiting on positive moisture with the runs the next few days. I want snow.

My computer just has a tab open constantly so I assume that makes me online regardless of when I’m reading. I think now we are largely in a waiting mode until/unless there is a dramatic shift again. That always brings comments.
