There are various forecast busts around the region. Really many sites. OKC is forecasted a low of 4F and it's 4F right now up there.

About what I expected here... Dusting to an inch. Unfortunately the models were right about the heaviest snow being to my NE but whatever. This cold on the other hand :double: :froze:

All observations are in Tecumseh, OK unless otherwise noted.

Winter posts are focused mainly for Oklahoma & Texas.

Take any of my forecasts with a grain of salt, refer to the NWS, SPC, and NHC for official information

Trampoline nearly just flew out the yard. That air packs a punch quite literally

Don't use my posts as forecast; I'm not a licensed meteorologist! I just endorse cold weather, alright?

It will be hard to accumulate with the wind. Though not much of it is melting, just blown around.

Starting to wonder if this turns into a significant forecast fail, hopefully not consequential. (Usual disclaimer, they normally do a great job and it is amazing how improved forecasts have gotten in the last few decades.) NWS FW upgraded that 10% chance of wintry mix to a whopping 20%, despite most we've spoken with around DFW saying they're seeing snowflakes. Ground is warm, hopefully that lasts until precip ends and the stiff wind quickly dries the roads. More concerned about power than anything else.

Just put on the longjohns and wool socks, gonna turn down the thermostat more and do our part to reduce power use.

My friends in Kansas are having some issues. One can’t open the door because it’s frozen shut.

I just saw a photo from southern Canada with a doorknob covered in ice indoors!

There's a band tightening up to your west between Ponca City and Stillwater. This should be your good shot once it swings through.

Still nothing here. Some heavy hitting cold but no heavy hitting snow :( If I luck out maybe some flurries or flizzard but most likely little accumulation

These snowflakes have some heft to them. Beautiful dendrites. Cars are getting flurries stuck in little divots and the wind has died down a little bit, so more of it seems to be falling from the sky rather than being whipped around continuously. There’s a subtle haze in the distance that’s likely attributed to the overall flizzard.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...

One year ago today began the Christmas heatwave.

Spent a whole day sledding in February 2021 up in Norman on the day the statewide average temperature was -2. The wind chills now are easily the coldest temperatures I’ve experienced since that time.
