I've been away for a bit in Texas. Just made it back to denver. What a night. Left Freer at around 4 last night. The front smacked me just north of Lubbock and the snow flurries was a big surprise. Good thing it wasnt able to accumulate. -1F in Amarillo with 40 mph winds was wild though. Roads got bad in Pueblo and were terrible in the Denver area. Safe and sound though. PWS recorded -13F last night.

So.... were these snow showers a surprise? I think/hope Houston will have the same luck as everyone else to the north!

New JMA weeklies starting to come around too...weeks 3 and 4 looking like the start of the swing back to negative EPO

Can see the start of the Greenland Ridge retrograding back towards the west once again late in week 2 GEFS. Hopefully, start this cycle over again with a little more staying power!!!

After a couple of hours of temps holding steady in NTX, they've started dropping again. DFW down to 17, Meacham and Alliance 15, Decatur down to 12. Bundle up!

Power came back on shortly after 12:30 - off for just over 2.5 hours total.

At 12:35 I got a txt from ONCOR - "Due to significant and widespread damage, crews are continuing to assess. Estimated restoration is unavailable at this time."

At 12:36 the lights were back on. Go figure.

Bottomed out at 11 here and now back up to 12. Looks like I'll stay here until the sun sets. Going to be a chilly night!

Decided to venture out to the grocery store in Fort Worth, 15 degrees and -3 wind chill. Not that bad for just a walk across the parking lot.

The front hasn't even reached Houston yet and I'm already looking forward to it! After the upcoming cold blast, I think most of us will enjoy a few days of mild temperatures :D

That’s honestly insane. In Feb 2021 that was the coldest temps I’ve ever experienced living here in southeast Texas. It got down to 14°F with a wind chill of -2°F here in Wharton and to think just 22 months later I’m about the experience my second coldest event and possibly challenge Feb 2021 is crazy to me!

I'd never say no to cold, but honestly it's all cold the same under 20. Give us that short warm up then bring on the snow and it's a deal.

And with no fresh snow cover on the ground to the North of you...this HP is as strong or stronger than 2021 all things considered
