I made it to 9 and stayed so I doubt DFW reached single digits but I didn’t check. I just know they don’t get colder than me.

The low in Dallas, TX was 11 degrees F

It stayed there for nine hours

https://w1.weather.gov/data/obhistory/KDFW.html

In Houston it reached 17 degrees F, continuously falling throughout the night

Got down to 17 this morning. I'm perfectly fine if this is the coldest temp here this winter. Looking forward to the warm up next week!

My car radio in my 2010 Ford Focus took about 10 min to warm up and turn on.......... it was stuck at the boot screen. It's the stock radio. Has 201,000 miles on it.

I've never seen it do that before.

Water Emergency update: Crisis averted, now have running water again with no bursting pipes! My grandmother's method of wrapping the pump housing on the exterior to get it above freezing has worked! May do a full inspection to check to see of any pipes tried to burst when it gets warmer.

Interesting I think officially 11F at DFW. Between readings for hours was 10F but once the official 0:53 hour was collected it spiked to 11 everytime. Another weird thing with that site in the past several outbreaks . During heatwaves this is never an issue .

Pretty sure Houston uses IAH as their official recording site and if that’s true then Houston made it to 15°F, not 17°F.

I’m sure where 57 lives in the concrete jungle that is Houston, it probably was a few degrees warmer.

I have to agree here. I've been below 10 degrees for 24 hours. I'm good :froze: if this wasn't the coldest I don't want to know

It's going to be a rough patch for cold mongers next 2-3 weeks.

SPV recovery will set up a SSW though. Aleutian trough will cause significant warming up there down the road, risk is elevated for a major event.

Yeah I was always under the belief that sometime after Jan 20th it could turn colder again.

Houston IAH has fallen to 19F. Since 2000 only twice has it done so for the site. Jan 2018 and Feb 2021. Wxman57 can sleep well knowing IAH'S 1930's all time record low of 5F is safe.

I don’t remember Jan 2018. What happened then?
