I'm skeptical of it, but that Lezak cycle mentioned points to a cold shot at the end of the month/early Feb, then mid-Feb and right around March 1. So would be interesting to see how accurate that is. We will find out what happens.

I do believe we will have more cold before winter is over. Hopefully, it will include some snow.

We have a local met here in southeast Louisiana that follows the LRC. He puts out a forecast each month based on his interpretation of it. So far it has been amazingly accurate. He downright nailed December. So far, this month has been dead on as well. It calls for the return to cold in the latter part of January. This is before any of the models, ensembles, etc started seeing it. Amazing. I am a believer.

I think moving to northern Canada will solve every single problem known to man. But why spoil the fun.

It’s fun up there. Dog sledding in the Arctic is a blast.

Winter 2020-2021 :cold:

All observations are in Tecumseh, OK unless otherwise noted.

Winter posts are focused mainly for Oklahoma & Texas.

Take any of my forecasts with a grain of salt, refer to the NWS, SPC, and NHC for official information

Never say Never with weather! Because ANYTHING is possible!

Yeah the GEFS definitely looks better than the EPS but it looks like both are really wanting to pop a big -EPO.

Check out the GEFS. It has that classic horseshoe blocking stretching into the Artic.

Can you post it?

Ntxw posted it earlier.

The models also featured the -NAO and -AO as well, the PNA also appears to be somewhat positive with the ECR.

The wpo/epo are the king of cold. No questions asked lol. We don't want very much positive pna if we can avoid it.

Yeah no thanks to a positive PNA unless it’s under .5 deviation then that’s not bad.

I must say, I’m not seeing the positivity on here for this upcoming change as I did for the Christmas cold. That Christmas cold was locked in for a long time before it happened.

It’ll start showing up on the operationals soon. Give it a few more days.

If the epo don't get negative enough it won't be that cold here. Just glancing blow unfortunately :grr:

Tbh I don't really want temps near zero again anyway  it wasn't very fun here

But I am seeing more and more local people talking about the end of the month so we'll see. Still a long way out

Most of us have experienced really low temperatures already. Give us a digging southwest trof pumping moisture for days.

The EPO has been cycling the past few months. I’d expect another decently strong -EPO towards the end of the month.

Yeah the bigger issue is how it continues to be dry... We gotta get some moisture in here one way or the other
