Drizzle here at 45 degrees. Some spotty showers developing over Bell County though. Need the rain for sure so I don’t mind

Summer's for hibernation, Winter’s my vacation

Don't use my posts as forecast, I'm a complete meteorology noob! I just like cold weather, alright?

All observations I post are for Temple, Texas unless otherwise stated.

Legit snowing now in north FW. It will be a good mood setting at least for the few minutes it lasts. Glad we got over an inch of rain. Too bad it wasn't a foot of snow.

I nearly got an inch from just that snow!

Maybe we'll see a Feb 1989 redux. Of course mini version, I don't think a 1070mb+ high is coming yet. It holds the all time North American record, but didn't make it far south.

The cold will likely win out in the end. Step down process I’m thinking.

Been snowing hard since I got home earlier despite not having a flake at the house for most of the day. I’d say around 2-3” slightly NE of WF. The snow has been nice but I’m more excited for these arctic fronts I keep hearing about, moisture or not.

I’d say we have a 1/2” just eyeballing it. It makes me happy. If we were 4 degrees cooler we’d have a good 3” incher.

Kinda feel bad because NTWX has been trying to say “Hey! morons! The upcoming pattern is what you want.”

And I don’t disagree.

Ground is covered in Denison, maybe 3/4 of an inch on grassy surfaces?

Indeed! Have seen some damage photos from Deer Park and Pasadena, including the animal shelter. :(

I hope there were no fatalities or serious injuries. Feeling sad tonight for y’all.

One of my employees had roof damage

CMC puts down an ice-skating rink for a large portion of the state next week. Shallow arctic air with impulses riding over from the SW. Classic TX ice storm potential should that setup verify. Ensemble thus far is aligned fairly well with it.

Ensemble doesn't align with the OP. Much colder.

GFS can’t handle shallow cold like this…CMC and ICON usually perform much better

Short range models including FV3 did pretty well all things considered with trends today. Interesting observation from OKC local met with respect to accumulations. Tulsa unfortunately was a bigger bust but again models were generally overdone in most cases as late as last night. Snow is still snow though so hope everyone enjoyed it. Better luck next time for our friends in DFW going forward.
