Models want to warm areas east of I-35 to 33 for the day and evening. Big difference if temps hold at 30/31 instead.

Starting to sleet but mixing with freezing rain. Definitely not a good sign.

This has been pretty catastrophic at my house. These American elms are about 65 years old.

The Precip is just to my south, slowly creeping north. Even though it's mostly in a easterly component.

Oh man, sorry to see that. Over by the airport I narrowly avoided disaster. Temps stayed around 30/31 and are at 32.5 now with melting icicles. Trees are sagging but nothing broke or damaged property thus far and power is still on. A couple of degrees colder it would be horrific.

KAUS (Austin Bergstrom) got 0.90" of qpf all below freezing (ZR) overnight.

Somewhat good news is temps there have risen to 32F and SA has gone above freezing 34F.

Beautiful day here in Houston. 40 degrees and light rain. Have a meeting in north Houston at 11am. Will take an hour to get there. Have I ever mentioned here that I hate winter?

Air aloft is above freezing throughout the precipitation layer (up to about 12,000 ft). HRRR indicates warming aloft all day today, so no ice for us. We'll just have to enjoy temps in the upper 30s with rain. Missing out on all the winter weather fun of those in DFW and Austin, I'm afraid. I'll remind those of you trapped in your homes hoping the power stays onr that we never have ice storms in July. Cold = bad. :firedevil:

Temp got down to 33.1 at the house early this morning in far NW Harris County with a steady light rain. A couple of degrees colder and it would have been a mess.

Mix of sleet and freezing rain here. Looks like most of the 12z hi-res models are warming things up too fast and the 14z HRRR is already too warm with it's 15z forecast. The WRF-NSSL seems to have the best handle on surface temps and, well, it produces the most concerning output.

Very very light graupel up here near Bowie. Most of this precip showing up on radar is not reaching the ground.
