Another interesting aspect about today are the temps. We've been sitting in the upper 40's all morning with a wind chill hovering around 43 degrees. Had to remind myself when I went outside that yeah, the calendar actually says April today. Crazy that just a few days ago, we were close to 90 degrees. Texas weather is awesome!

Much needed rain today for the area. Hopefully we manage to get a little more before things begin to shift east tomorrow.

I’m already looking forward to the next possible rain event mid month.

CPC is still looking promising, even though today's part hasn't even updated yet.

It's going to be warmer at my parent's house in Iowa over the next week than it will be here in Texas... :double:

Areas just SE and E of SA have really hit the rainfall jackpot for this event. Unfortunately for some (as is typically the case when we're coming out of these long-term droughts) you end up getting too much of a good thing too quickly (7-10 inches of rain). Nonetheless, outside of the flash flooding, it's been a welcome sight for most.

Would've liked to have seen a bit more rain across Medina County (Lake) where it's desperately needed but hopefully that area along with the surrounding counties including Bexar will see more opportunities to cash in throughout the month into May.

Pretty good rains in some areas so far for the coastal plains region. SA-ATX-HOU corridor has seen beneficial amounts.

There is a bit of a +SOI going on likely tied with cyclonic activity NW of Australia and IDL trades but the WWB west of the dateline will try and move east. In time the rains will shift to the interior of the state as the month progresses. Another system early week moving south/southeast should keep the soggy conditions for areas that have already seen some.

There might be a potential huge -SOI dive sometime mid month. While April 1957 is an outlier (was oncoming strong Nino) I would not be surprised if some areas had a big monthly qpf +departure similar to that year. Again in May.

Agreed, unfortunately the Hill Country and areas west of SA weren't able to cash in on this rain event. Thankfully much of Bexar county got over an inch, with more beneficial rain falling there this afternoon.

The CPC forecast looks good! At least the next couple weeks appear to stay on the wetter side.

Ok, let’s get all of our rain this spring. And not one year from tomorrow when the total solar eclipse crosses Texas on April 8, 2024! :sun:

The QPF forecasts keep dropping every time it gets closer, are we still having the aftereffects of the La Nina?

I dunno but there has been some concern here we may erase the progress we made on the drought since this is our wettest time of year

I know this is unrelated here, but this is big. And why I'm glad about the forum admins here, they should be highly respected.

One of the forums I've been thinking about joining is shutting down on April 7th due to the lack of support and admin hate, the Mass Exodus is only getting worse.

Around the Weimar area I am hearing rain totals of 5 to 7 inches. We had a good old West Texas lighting storm two days ago. I had not been such a lighting storm since I was a kid in Midland.

DFW airport is under an inch of rain for April and it looks like we could get to mid-month before our next chance to get pushed over 1" of rain.

Our tank is full again on 2434. I was shocked to see it full again.

We were at a Family Easter gathering on 2434 yesterday and we didn't know if we would get stuck in the pasture in front of the house but all made it out ok. Happy EASTER ALL!

Happy Easter everyone!!! We’re at a family gathering in Grayson County, what a beautiful day! Not too warm, not too cool, a light breeze, just right.

If they were all like this, I might see Wxman57’s point. Maybe…but pretty sure it won’t be long before I change my mind! :D

Beautiful spring weather this week - with local highs in the low 70's today increasing to the low-80's by the end of the week. Some severe weather may enter the forecast for Friday and Saturday, as noted in the latest 4-8 day outlook from the SPC.

The GFS, at least, is not hopeful for any large rain events in the near future. Hopefully some areas that really need the rain will get some, though.
