All of the severe weather stayed west/north of me, which is fine. I ended up with 0.88". I think it was mentioned but a tornado (looked pretty weak) touched down in Tyler, TX. I'm headed to Washington D.C. today for the weekend and it looks like the severe weather threat will follow me there tomorrow.

How often is there a Thunderstorm Watch for Far Southern Texas and Brownsville?

First half of April was much slower than would have anticipated but slowly coming around. Many south of I-20 is running above normal for April. North of I-20 (and into Oklahoma) is a little below but that will gradually decrease with the growing El Nino and seasonal variability shifting northwards of natural QPF.

With the El Nino it's bound to get really rainy at some point, for the next week we get a really nice cool spell.

Yeah it's been a very dry month here. Airport didn't even measure yesterday even after the tornadoes to the southwest

And of course the drought rages just NW of here

Tuesday could be an interesting day for the Austin/SA region for some nasty weather. EWX mentions all severe weather possibilities including tornadoes. They do say the forecast may change so we will see but definitely an active week ahead.

Last April was very dry, hot, and began a streak of ++SOI that set stage for the months that followed. Complete opposite this year.

Let's see how far east the storms get with that sharp instability axis near IH-35. Think areas farther west that missed out on the storms a few days ago have a better shot tonight.

Agreed. Models seem to have a good handle on that trend west as well. Storms up north that are crossing into more of that stable air along and just east of 35 are weakening a bit. Meanwhile storm up around Fredericksburg looks mean.

Wow, cats and dogs right now in CCTX. Super heavy rainfall, it is absolutely a different set up, the GOM usually settles these storms down. Today I'm getting a free pressure house wash.

There was a drought in Coastal Texas, I think those kinds of storms took care of that one.
