Wow, basically, no model had storms forming in Dallas and then tearing a path down to Houston.

You can clearly see the path of the storms on the current power outage map.

1.4 million without power in Harris County

Guess we don't have to worry about the grid being overloaded tomorrow...(always look on the bright side of life)

Edit: Inbound round predicted for the west side of DFW may be building now south of Wichita Falls.

Again, I hope this isn’t true. But a short while ago, @MichaelBeardWX was reporting (at 10:30 p.m.) that multiple people have lost their lives tonight in Matador. His drone shot showed horrific damage…

Holy hell, at :35 into this video is a new build Dollar General store, that opened last year, completely flattened

https://www.google.com/maps/@34.0121917,-100.8307985,3a,39.9y,215.8h,85.03t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sBIR3Dbp96XbXXa7pzcG0Aw!2e0!7i16384!8i8192!5m1!1e1?entry=ttu

There was a twitter report of deaths at that store, but so far officials are only confirming 1 for the town. No cars visible in the parking lot, blown away? Or hopefully the store closed before the storm.

Four were killed in Matador last night and 10 were injured. Terrible destruction and tragedy for this small Texas community. My prayers are with them this morning… :(

This weather pattern really sucks. Extreme heat or damaging severe storms. Can't wait for it to hopefully end in early July.

It looks to me at least, like the days of this pattern are numbered, going by the last few runs of the gfs. The next week looks like hell but after that it looks like the ridge moves east and breaks down, eventually being replaced by weak troughing and better rain chances by week two. Fingers crossed

I think the early Atlantic activity (rising motion) likely played some kind of a role in the heat. But the EPAC systems will eventually crack the ridging despite being a reflection of rounding the southwest part of the block. With lag it will break down the heat dome across Mexico.

In fact if a second EPAC system does come into fruition, it may draw a trof southwestward through TX.

Some surprise showers this morning again. Of course, the bigger one is passing just 2 miles east of me like yesterday.

Terrible news about yet another fatal tornado.
