Ensembles are starting to back off on precipitation and increase temps
The SOI is positive, and there are some other signs that we haven't transitioned to a full-on atmospheric response to the emerging El Nino.

It was 90 degrees yesterday evening after sunset here in Starkville. Fall is going to be nice when it shows up!

Yep. I noticed that this morning when I woke up to check the 0z and 6z runs.

In Kansas for a family 4th event. Just as hot basically today but tomorrow should be in the 80s so a good day.
I am noticing basically no cooling next week on the FWD forecast now. It’s just barely below 100 at least.

Interestingly CPC hanging on to an above normal precip July for most of NTX with their 6/30 update. Not losing hope yet, but it feels like we've been on the losing end of the higher rain chances for quite a while now.

It doesn't take much to get us above normal in July and August. However, I think we might be waiting until the Fall before we start seeing slow moving cutoff lows that soak larger areas with rain.

Re: Texas Summer 2023
One thing that I noticed is that in Kansas the dew point is actually higher than DFW right now.
Yet, it still is cooling off much better at night. Any idea why this is?
It was 100 yesterday, too, yet the low was 70 vs. 80 IMBY in DFW.
I remember that growing up, too. Even on hot days it cools down faster than TX.
I assumed that was dp related, but again it’s lower in TX!
So I’m confused.

Rain shield strong, but clouds have held temperatures down. High of 89 before noon but has hovered low to mid 80s since. Daily coldest max is 80!
Seasonal to warm the next 7 days. Could be better but for July we'll take it! Last year at this time we were starting a another heatwave that ranged from 99-106 to start the month, peaking mid month of 109 three days in a row.

Re: Texas Summer 2023
Well the cooler temps were nice today but the rain completely skipped over me. North all morning and then tracked south somehow dissipated before touching my area lol.
