I will say this heat hasn't been quite as horrible as last week but thats not saying much

There are also back half type years. 1972 -> 1973, 2006->2007 are a couple of examples where the wetter years is towards the backend (the next year) of El Nino and the growing portion the year prior is slower to respond. They tend to occur because the PDO isn't cooperative initially. When you have that Nina -> Nino -> Nina transition, the wettest, coolest year can happen in the last cycle.

Extremely wet El Nino's like 1991, 2004, 2015, 2018, typically have come off of an existing Nino and/or +PDO in place.

Yeah up here this is nothing compared to last year still. Tulsa has only 2 days over 100 so far

From what I understand, unless it comes from the tropics, we might not see much rain around here till October or November. What a boring and depressing stretch of weather. There’s really nothing to talk about.

Yeah up here this is nothing compared to last year still. Tulsa has only 2 days over 100 so far

This summer may be disappointing to some, but running around this week here in DFW in and out all day, the 105 with a dew point in the 50's or very low 60's really hasn't been that bad. Hot is still hot, oven like hits you, but far more comfortable to deal with than the typical 94 with a 74 dew point Houston summers. Big respect for all those that have to endure working in Galveston/Corpus/Rio Grande Valley summers, the toughest of the tough.

That spell of 100's with 70's dewpoints awhile back was lousy, but fairly atypical for western DFW.

Unfortunately everyone in McKinney is dead.

Canada at 90 degrees is weird to look at when London is at a snug 59 degrees. Must be awesome to have that weather all year long

I think North Texas might start to see more "El Nino like" conditions by mid-August. Signs that our nightmare of a summer might be coming to an end are starting to show up in the ensembles and teleconnections.

But when they have heat waves it sucks because a lot of places don't have AC too. It's definitely not perfect there either and they have a very bad history with those

It rained in SA today and as a result the streak of 100 degree days is finally over! 15 straight days which tied for 2nd most on record.
