We are under the gun through tonight. Very very unstable atmosphere. Squall line will push through later on this evening and into tonight and should clear everything out soon after. Lots and lots of rain with this sytem. Almost everyone in the area could see 3 to 5 inches and some areas could see 10 to 15 inches. Wow!!! I had a tornado touched down right near me here at work near Bush Intercontinental. More on the way. Read discussion below.

HAVE UPDATED THE ZONES FOR NEW TORNADO WATCH #950 IN EFFECT UNTIL 6
PM. WATCH IS IN EFFECT FOR COUNTIES ALONG AND SOUTH OF A LINE FROM
COLUMBUS TO CONROE TO LIVINGSTON. THE PREVIOUS TORNADO WATCH
EXPIRED AT 1 PM.

TORNADIC THUNDERSTORM HAS MOVED THROUGH FORT BEND AND HARRIS
COUNTIES FROM NEAR MEADOWS TO AROUND SPRING VALLEY. NUMEROUS REPORTS
OF DAMAGE HAVE BEEN RECEIVED WITH THIS STORM.

RADAR AND SATELLITE PICTURES SHOW SEVERE THUNDERSTORM AND FLASH
FLOOD THREAT STILL VERY HIGH IN THE WATCH AREA. UPDATED OUR
HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK LATE THIS MORNING TO RAISE RAINFALL
ESTIMATES THROUGH TOMORROW MORNING TO WIDESPREAD 3 TO 5 INCHES WITH

This stuff is still building. I'm just West of Intercontinental and we are putting everything on top of our desks. We got flooded out last October with the same type of setup. Greens Bayou is about an 1/8 of a mile down the road and it loves to come out of its banks. I'm heading out now to get back home up in central Montgomery. Be careful!!!!

One of the news sites (Click2Houston or ABC 13, I don't recall) said this was the storm that moved through California a few days ago and did all that damage.

Looks to me like Galveston will be spared. Can anyone else tell otherwise? Houston had really bad rain and flooding last night during my drive back from Dallas, but down here it was calm and dry. Right now, it's overcast but that's it.

Currently over 5"+ at my house and over 4" in most areas of Houston metro north of a Rosenberg to Hobby Airport line. Just issued another Tornado warning and heading towards my house again!!! Hopefully it will miss my area again!!!! Still flooded in there with rain rate at 2.2"/hr.!!! IT IS NOT NOR WILL IT BE A PRETTY PICTURE FOR MOST OF HOUSTON BEFORE THE NEXT 24 HOURS IS OVER. I expect quite a bit of flooding, past what is already occurring.

As far as missing Galveston or other areas-I doubt it-yours will come later as this system slides East and NE. Unfortunately we are getting the training storms over my area of Houston, even though it appears to have let up for now at I-10 and Hwy 6.

I am not too surprised. Weather systems move into the southwestern United States and can be as strong or even stronger as they move into the south-central states.

As of this evening, conditions aren't ripe for a severe weather outbreak across Florida, the northern portion of the state, initial and perhaps only... the panhandle has a chance of severe weather.

I would like to have some activity, as I mentioned (in another post). Strong to severe storms would be interesting; but obviously nothing too bad.
