With all this heat the ground will be to warm for anything to stick.

We're living in a Twilight Zone episode called "The Midnight Sun". Earth's orbit changes and it's getting very close to the sun. Temperatures are topping 120 and it never cools down. Water is scarce, and people are going crazy from the heat. A woman can't take it any more. It's 120 degrees at midnight and the sun is still blazing. Electricity is going off, and water is on only an hour a day.

Scene changes to an outdoor shot of the apartment. It's -10F outside and everyone is freezing. The Earth was cast away from the sun. Everything is actually cold, not hot. I'm sure we'll all wake up soon and we're actually in a deep freeze like February 2021.

Umm, Sir are you OK? Did you ride too far and the heat got to you?

Haha, I’m ready for it to cool off some but not that cold!!

I’m hoping this winter is a mild and wet El Nino winter.

It’s good to see some of our local friends popping-in to Storm2k!

It's 4 AM and not even below 80 for my area

Something is going on in Fairview, OK, they haven't been able to get below 85 all night at all.

The West Texas Mesonet is showing around ten current temperatures of 109–110.

Some tree species like live oak do not have deep roots and, therefore, benefit from near surface watering.

Through 8/19 average temp at Mabry is 91.8.

Really, no relief in sight. The ridge contracts from its current nationwide dominance and retreats back towards the SW but keeps Texas firmly in its grip through the 1st Wk of Sept.

As long as it doesn’t get too cold for too long I’m tired of high electricity bills.

The heat is not messing around today in DFW.
10:00a and it's already 98F at DFW Airport, 99 at Addison, 97 at Alliance and Love Field. I'd like to think things peak today, but even if they do it doesn't look like substantive relief is on the horizon.

Between the drought and the heat the roads around Dallas are in really bad shape. Big cracks, splits, seams everywhere. Some areas where two sections of concrete meet are developing ridges big enough that they'll shred sidewalls of low profile tires. And that's not even counting the surfaces themselves which are just becoming caked in oil, rubber, and dust. When we finally do get some rain around here it's going to be an adventure between the road surfaces getting icy slick and the pavement itself shifting around.

Already 102 IMBY. May push 112 or even 113 today.

Yesterday Kansas was over 110, so it is hot all over.

Well, I think we may get relief in 3 weeks or so. Surely less than a month now.

I hope. That week I will be going to San Diego so I will get a break anyway. Lol.

Believe it or not, even Iowa, Nebraska, Minnesota, & South Dakota could see temps of 110°F+.

94°F here at 11AM. Projected high is 106°F for me today, which would the hottest day of the year for us. It got to 105°F here on Thursday.
