It would have been written prior to the very latest recon data. When we get a VDM I'm sure they will call it, if not sooner.

Might not have had enough time to incorporate the recon data totally into their package. MSLP recorded by recon also lower than 15z package.

My posts are my own personal opinion, defer to the National Hurricane Center (NHC) and other NOAA products for decision making during hurricane season.

999/28 center drop supports 996-997 mbar. Looks like winds are 40, maybe 45 kt. Really poor timing that the center pass was just as advisories were being issued. Hopefully they put out a special advisory within the hour to upgrade.

I am only a meteorology enthusiast who knows a decent amount about tropical cyclones. Look to the professional mets, the NHC, or your local weather office for the best information.

Tampa Bay is back in the cone FWIW at this time. Better to do this than to avoid any downplaying by some mets that do that.

The current intensity is held at 30 kt for this advisory which is in
line with the latest Dvorak Satellite estimates.

It looks like the advisory didn't have recon data just yet, maybe a special advisory for Idalia?

Definitely the SW quadrant is where the action is with the storm, very weak NE quadrant.

The thing is it also looks to have taken in some dry air on its north side along with some northerly shear
