I noticed that second trough last night when I was looking at the models.I was curious what might happen if she missed the train and had to wait for the next one.

I too am interested in knowing what effect a scenario such as that, would have on Idalias forward motion...

When I read that, I just took it to mean that Idalia would leave the scene quickly. Not that it would have a drastic effect on the track.

Soooo yeah not a lot of people taking it seriously

Ironically, I'm also head of SS department, however, our district (Pasco County) has made it clear that it's time to prepare our rooms, not just for storm damage but to be used as shelters.

We just got an email from Polk County listing 20 reasons why we should be cancelled tomorrow but saying as of now only Afterschool activities are cancelled on Tuesday ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Yes, me as well. Sorry for any confusion. I was eluding solely to its motion...

Yall are absolutely essential during cyclone events, and I have respect for each and everyone of yall. Thankyou for your service to the community. Be safe, be well my friends.

This forum was so helpful to me last year leading up to Ian as I'm on the Sarasota/Charlotte County line. Especially WxMan57. He sniffed out the turn earlier than anyone and that gave me a jump on my preps. Listen to the mets on here. They know what they are talking about and the information they provide can be lifesaving.

Idalia still looks pretty sheared to me. CDO looks a bit like a squashed bug, with the LLC threatening to become exposed at time. More-or-less what we expected though.

My posts are my own personal opinion, defer to the National Hurricane Center (NHC) and other NOAA products for decision making during hurricane season.

Credit to GFS so far. After their initial bumbling they seem to be the most consistent with the left motion. As an aside, just heard that we in the Tampa Bay area have tides 1 ft. Above the norm. That's not good!

What are the implications of Idalia if Franklin decides to move NNE/NE sooner than anticipated?

They just closed Sarasota County schools for Tues and Wed "out of an abundance of caution" and they are opening special needs shelters starting Tues. After school activities today are still on but everything is closed Tues/Wed.

I believe Sanibel lost his mother during Ian. My prayers still out to him.

Mid level dry air has been holding back Idalia past couple of days. However, the atmosphere in the eastern GOM looks to be mixing out the dry air. Look for steady intensification the next day until Idalia is removed from the Yucatan. Idalia will be traveling along with the upper winds so little relative wind shear at the hurricane approaches the coast. RI is a real possibility with this cyclone. I've witnessed this scenario play out in the past.....Opal, Charley ect. Not saying it will happen but possible based on previous occurrences. Y'all in the path of Idalia leave if you are in a surge area please......MGC
