This iteration of Franklin is the strongest and most notable storm of the same name. Franklin replaced Floyd after 1999 and had been used 4 times, twice as tropical storms (2005 and 2011), and once as a Cat 1 hurricane in the Bay of Campeche (2017).

Does anyone know why Franklin did NOT generate large swells here in PR when it was a major hurricane a few hundred miles due north of here? I was expecting large waves but we got nothing.

Not looking so hot anymore. But some funky meteorological stuff is about to happen in the west-central Atlantic with Franklin, Jose, post-tropical Idalia and the ghost of Gert all pirouetting around out there. I highly doubt it can be accurately modeled by anything.
