I'll guess 125kts 940 mb. Reminds me a lot of Jose '17 at the current vicinity.

Could we see the same intensity jump as Jova? Cat 2->4->5 in three advisories?

Getting that circular buzzsaw look. Looks kinda like Katrina. I wouldn't be surprised if this goes annular as it matures.

Certainly possible. It depends on what recon finds in a few hours.

The flights tonight and tomorrow morning may be legendary.

I am only a meteorology enthusiast who knows a decent amount about tropical cyclones. Look to the professional mets, the NHC, or your local weather office for the best information.

I am so thankful the northeast Caribbean has been spared from a direct hit. It would have been catastrophic. And I hope Lee stays far away from any land.

I think you just spoke very well for whole lot of people, Barbara...

I'm getting Dorian vibes looking at it.

I sense Recon finding a cat 5 - and a pressure of like 910...

If this is another warm-eye overperformance, the Dvorak estimates might need to look at greater eye adjustments. After all, comparing Dorian to Eta (very warm eye with mostly W vs. sub-freezing eye with CDG), you'd think looking at it on conventional satellite, Eta was much stronger when in reality Dorian was the stronger storm.

Only time will tell.

Winds are probably lagging behind a bit, so I'm guessing recon finds 125-130kts, pressure around 930mb

I call hurricanes that look like this on satellite Whistlers due to the sound the winds make at landfall...like a high pitched loud whistle.
