Eye wall looking like its reconstructing nicely. New bomb going off N of center and Lee looks like it's deepening.

Every time it seems like Lee is trying to recover, it gets knocked back by shear again. I’m going to hold my breath until tomorrow.

I am only a meteorology enthusiast who knows a decent amount about tropical cyclones. Look to the professional mets, the NHC, or your local weather office for the best information.

Well, yeah. It certainly is looking a good deal healthier at the moment and may well be a bit stronger then hours ago. But I think you're right in terms of over the next 24 hr. period. Just looking at the warming tops throughout the southside convective mass; That and how plainly visible the southerly shear still remains. We'll probably see another overall degradation of appearance (especially south of center) by this evening.

I haven’t seen this structure since before the RI episode. The last 36 hours have seen a sloppy structure. I never thought it was ready until now. We will see.

Winter 2020-2021 :cold:

All observations are in Tecumseh, OK unless otherwise noted.

Winter posts are focused mainly for Oklahoma & Texas.

Take any of my forecasts with a grain of salt, refer to the NWS, SPC, and NHC for official information

True, but the structure of these bursts is decidedly different than last night’s. You could tell last night’s were shear driven since, even though they also originated from the northern eyewall, they just expanded the canopy without traveling around the eye. There was also no banding upshear. These on the other hand are classic vortical hot towers that are, at least mostly, making their way around the eye. This process could be stopped by another unexpected burst of shear, so I agree with your reservation, but Lee is currently exhibiting clear characteristics of strengthening at the moment.

I don’t expect a ton of intensification until the inner core is all sorted out. A lot of different scenarios could play out with a structure like that. Perhaps the tiny eye becomes dominant, or the other one first, or they both strengthen at the same time and an EWRC starts.

Even though Lee's maximum sustained winds haven't increased, it's actually stronger because the areal coverage of its hurricane-force and tropical-storm-force winds has expanded. The previous advisory stated they extended 30 miles and 175 miles, respectively, from the center. Now, they extend 40 miles and 185 miles, respectively, from the center. In other words, more energy is required to produce the same wind speeds over a larger area.

Definitely looks better now than it did last night. Still missing the eye, but the shape is a lot more symmetrical now compared to how it looked then.

It looks a whole lot more symmetrical than it did a few hours ago, I think we might see the eye pop out in just a few hours and I still
think we get a strong C4 or 5 before it is over. JMHO
