Eye clearing out quickly on IR, despite the heaviest convection not making it to the E (yet).

We’ll have to see if recon finds a double wind maxima.

Yeah those endless EWRC runs from the HAFS-A/B are probably gonna verify.

I am only a meteorology enthusiast who knows a decent amount about tropical cyclones. Look to the professional mets, the NHC, or your local weather office for the best information.

This period of intensification could be temporary, as the shear cutting through Lee's center has increased in the past several hours. All Lee needs is for the shear to lift north just a tiny bit and it'll be off to the races again, but at this point I'm not convinced that that is going to happen before the window of RI favorability has passed.

This is a very slight double wind maxima, if at all. Won't surprise me if an eyewall meld happens instead.

The eye also remains very saturated as shown with the dropsonade.

Eye is 30 miles wide. I'd say he just finished an ERC...
unrelated question...since HHs are flying missions out of St Croix, do they deploy people down to St Croix and rotate crew or are they based there? Was just wondering if anyone knows

Since the lowest extrapolated reading from the previous pass was 952.5, this is a nearly 4mb drop since then
