Can't wait for this weekend and highs in the 70s! :D

Got around 1.5" at the Portastorm Weather Center in far south Austin. Some spots in Travis County received more than 2". Onward!

Ntxw wrote:ECMWF seasonal (long range) has been trending more cold in the middle of the country and West than the East Coast for winter. This is due to the -PDO favoring a more -PNA and Alaskan Ridging rather than your typical GOA trough. I suspect there will be more pullbacks since Sept PDO was even more negative. I can see this trying to do something like a stronger version of 2012-2013.

I remember the Christmas 2012 snowfall very well, think we had 2-3" where I was living then. I wouldn't mind having another one of those.

Just emptied another 3.10" from the rain gauge, with about an inch of that from yesterday.

That brings my storm total to 4.44"

For once a system over-performed here relative to the WPC and model forecasts. :)

Cooler air is surging down the Canadian Prairies. Sfc frontogenesis should occur over the high plains later and tomorrow night (7-11pm) should be crossing the Red River and I-20 corridor. Will feel the difference. Central Texas early morning and morning hours SE Texas. It will wash out a bit near the coast but should make the weekend beautiful.

A stronger front should make its way down in about a week.

The rain and storms were needed and wonderful to see but the cooler fall air is what I have been waiting for. The rain will come, but to get rid of the way too lengthy summer type pattern will feel awesome. Bring it.

I set up a CoCoRaHS rain gauge this past Summer (when it hadn't rained for months).

I emptied the one inch tube out, then attached the top funnel to the one inch tube.

I poured that water from overflow tube into the one inch tube via the funnel and that got to 0.30"

So if i did it right, I guess I got 1.30" (?). Seems too easy.lol. But it is consistent with the weather service estimates in the area.
