For those watching the solar eclipse, keep your glasses, I heard we can use them to watch the Cowboys game Monday.....

I keep hearing everyone talk about these glasses but no one ever mentions what kind of glasses you need and where you get them from…

Eclipse glasses, best bet is amazon. I haven't seen at the stores yet but you might. There's a total solar eclipse next April so could be handy!

The cold front just rolled through my part of BCounty. Dropped 5 degrees in 10 minutes.

Not bad.

Don't use my posts as forecast, I'm a complete meteorology noob! I just like cold weather, alright?

I plan on getting the non-disposable kind on Amazon to reuse. You do have to be careful to make sure they are approved by astronomy organizations.

This eclipse tomorrow is ok, but honestly I am excited about the total eclipse in April. That is rare to get one right over you and will be pretty darn cool.

Unfortunately April is often a cloudy month.

Look at the shadows through trees and leaves, if you have any left, and they will be crescent tomorrow.

It's a mind trip.

Gotcha. Thanks! Not sure why you don’t see them in stores? They’d probably sell pretty well.

Yeah I'm fully planning on seeing the one in April and I'm deeply concerned about bad weather already  :spam:

Temp dropped 5F here in Comfort TX. We had about 2 minutes of total annularity. Was an amazing sight. Never got as dark as I would have expected.

So much for that mid-October flip to a wetter Nino pattern. Looks like no rain for Texas over the next 10 days or so...

Just beyond 10 days we could get back into a wetter pattern. Have to watch for another EPAC recurving hurricane as well.

Needs to flip real soon, if this current forecast verifies we’ll be back up to three weeks without any rain.

EDIT: At least in the discussion FWD basically says they have no idea what will really happen.

The rapid amplification of a western CONUS ridge will allow the
aforementioned trough to quickly deepen/dig into a large-amplitude
trough over the eastern-central or eastern U.S. late next week,
slowing its forward progression. The statistically-favored
evolution of this pattern remains split between two main scenarios
(Cluster 1 and 2 both capturing 30% of all members): (1) the
trough deepens over the Plains (perhaps even into Texas) before
shifting east or (2) the trough advances farther east into the
Midwest before deepening into the southeastern CONUS. GFS ensemble
members remain exclusively biased towards the more westward
track, which brings large scale lift closer to North and Central
Texas and increases the potential for more widespread rainfall as
the associated cold front pushes across the region late next week.
This likely does not reflect the true spread between its members,
given the wide contrast between the remaining clustered
solutions. Will continue to favor the forecast blend in lieu of
latching onto a solution prematurely. The most recent blend of
guidance generally keeps rain chances to our east with no
noticeable cool down expected in the wake of the front. Daytime
highs will be in the upper 70s and 80s by the weekend, with
morning lows in the 50s.

DFW has gotten far more rain the past 2-3 years than those of us south of Waco. We’ve sadly got thousands of oak trees dying in the Hill Country west of New Braunfels.

Not as bad as 2011 but the duration of below normal precip is killing us down here. I’m afraid of the consequences if we flip back to La Niña with the -PDO next summer/fall.

Just beyond 16 days we will be in November, then we can turn our attention to December and a pattern flip. :cold:

It's out beyond D7 but there is decent support from the EPS for this.

LC Posted a map from the Euro showing an average trough central and west it looks like November to February or so.

He commented later he’s skeptical of it being as far west as it shows though.
