Looks like 34F was DFW low making it the 4th coldest minimum for Halloween tying 1991 and 1906. Reinforcing front today, making tonight a little colder.

Also October will finish with 9.63" of rain at the airport also good enough to be 4th wettest. The month will finish around +2F or so.

31.8F IMBY (North Dallas). Kinda like the temp at DFW, it really bottomed out around 7:00. Was hovering around 35-36 when I left the house to go run at 5:30...by the time I got home it had dropped to 32.4.

Looks pretty nice for the next week to 10 days and then models are starting to pick up on another dynamic system potentially interacting with an EPAC tropical system.

Let's hope the cold start to Halloween doesn't influnce our coming winter, because the winters of 06/07 and 91/92 were craptastic winters to say the least. The total numbers of freezes for those 2 winters combined were only 37, and the average # of freezes per winter in NTX is 30-32.

Actually, 06-07 was a good winter for yall. I believe yall had a winter storm in Nov 2006 and a big ice storm in mid Jan 2007 and Feb 2007 was pretty cold if I remember correctly

Surface pressures looks to rise later next week. Not of arctic origin but probably good enough for another chilly snap second week of November.

Finally was able to measure the rain in the CoCoRAHS gauge that fell since I emptied it out this past Saturday. There was an additional 2.36" in it. That brings my grand total to 4.71" since Monday Oct 23rd.
:)
My yard is saturated! :rain: We could use a week of dry-out time.lol Never thought I would be saying that.

28 IMBY North Fort Worth.

Meanwhile, DFW stubbornly at 34. They may miss a freeze again.

And DFW failed to freeze again. Crazy.

Yet if you look at Wunderground most stations got to 32 or below across DFW.

They need to find a better site for the station.

Busted a bit warm IMBY and only got to freezing for about 2 hours, so hopefully, my drop clothes saved my Fall tomatoes.

When it warmed into the low 60s yesterday I was thinking it might be difficult to get a freeze at DFW, right smack dab in the middle of the UHI.

So strange...I've sometimes wondered what type of instrument calibration they do. DFW always seems to be consistently 1-2 degrees warmer than surrounding areas...even those deeper in the UHI. I know topography plays a role as well. Just interesting the consistency.

Only made it to 33.8F IMBY after 31.8F yesterday. Maybe still one more shot tomorrow morning before we wait for the mid/late month storm system.

I've been to the site and FW made a tweet a few years back. It's an elevated location and is windier than surrounding sites. If you notice during storms DFW airport often records the highest gusts in the region. At the same time any kind of wind will also keep temps from bottoming relative to surrounding sites as well.

26 this morning. 3rd freeze in a row. Looks like tomorrow morning may be the last one for a little bit. I could definitely get used to these cold fall mornings.
