Teamplayersblue that kind of setup would really dump some big time cold air into the US, even down here

We gotta start somewhere. I mean there's been nothing up here besides 2 minutes of flakes last week
EPS mean over the next couple weeks gives you about 5-6”. Not too shabby.

The 12z euro hits ne Oklahoma points north and east pretty hard. It's still early but that's what I saw so far

The radar looks promising just to the west. Nothing but high clouds here so overcoming drier air/virga could be an issue this evening. Bulk of the activity is heading to Denton and Collin counties at the moment. Hope to see some rain in the next few hours.

Clouds did thicken and now a steady light rain is falling. Nice to see on a chilly evening.

Re: Texas Winter 2023-2024
Beneficial rainfall ongoing across portions of San Antonio metro and the surrounding area of South-Central Texas today. Radar estimates of 1- 2 inches across the region with storms continuing to move NE across the metro. Even had some small hail reports across the northern areas of Bexar County in the last few minutes.

All observations are in Tecumseh, OK unless otherwise noted.
Winter posts are focused mainly for Oklahoma & Texas.
Take any of my forecasts with a grain of salt, refer to the NWS, SPC, and NHC for official information

Snow in the forecast for me in Nashville that evening Tuesday the 9th. If we can even safely get there with the potential of Monday the 8th being a severe event. We check in our hotel next Tuesday and almost 9 hour drive, more when you add in bathroom, fuel and food stops.

Seeing some -40 plus readings in Canada is a good sign as well. Hopefully that storms lays a great snow pack to pave the way for winter in Texas.

Decided to get the past 4 model runs from the EPS, GEFS, and CMCE as a comparison. (EPS is 2 days compared to 1 in CMCE and GEFS)

Anybody go to the Storm Chaser summit? Tempting since it’s in Fort Worth this year. Not sure I want to drop $125 though.

Re: Texas Winter 2023-2024
Just got my first rainfall reading off the Tempest. I have it near a CoCoRaHS rain gauge, and they were nearly identical, +/- 0.02". I realized there is an NC rain ("nearcast rain") option that was turned on. However, when I turned off the NC option, my rain went from 1.02" to 1.65"
The 1.02" most closely matches my CoCoRaHS, and nearby stations in my area.
This makes me wonder about rhe 1.65" reading(?). If I didn’t have the CoCoRaHS, I would assume I got 1.65", which appears to be wrong(?). Just wondering if device is inflating the numbers based on drop size, or what(?). The NC made it measure correctly. Otherwise I like it!
I sent a question to the Tempest chat blog. Anyway. Pretty cool machine!

Tonights models runs are coming in colder, with a much more stout alaskan blocking signature, CMC is frigid, with a system digging out into baja california
