A key teleconnection is the epo/wpo. If they go negative, definitely watch out! Cross polar flow can happen

I love ice and snow as much as anyone on this board, but these last few days in Dallas have been absolutely glorious. My kind of January thaw for sure. Bring on the next round of winter!!

Finished the month of January with 9.53” - a great start to the year.

My temps today were 43-77 and mostly sunny. I’m loving this weather. I could bottle this up and repeat it all year.

Hit 79 here today, absolutely putrid, cranked the AC all the way down to 60, and that felt amazing!

Tear down the wall! Please allow the cold air to come in.

8.64 inches of rain this month in CLL.

High 80°F; Low 39°F IMFY. As long as that air stays dry, it's cool at night and no A/C comes on I am good.

Still looks like some action near Valentine's Day - any wintery mischief will confine itself to (well) north of Hearne. Even IF there is cross-polar flow, there's a lot of brown between here and Canada.

Dukemu way too early to speculate where any wintry mischief may occur if any, but the pattern showing up on ensembles could easily support a southern winter weather event, its a good pattern especially with a pretty healthy snowpack to our north

I had my heat on 90*F from mid-January up until week. Finally turned it down to 80-85*F.

I'm liable to cry when I open my bill...

Wow! All this whining about highs in the 70s?? One of you has the AC at 60, another the heater at 90. Ours is always set at 73 during the day and off at night with the bedroom window open a bit (a very tiny bit when it was 20 deg). I was finally able to get out on my bike and ride just over 20 miles yesterday. It was 74F, so I still needed an insulated long-sleeve jersey, but it didn't feel TOO cold.

Good to see that the one-time GFS forecast of 1+ inches of snow in Laredo at hour 384 has gone away. You can trust the GFS in winter at that long range as much as you can trust its hurricane forecasts at day 16. After the 12Z run yesterday, I fed the new wall data into the GFS (Canadian wall reinforced, too). Here's to a nice, not-so-cold February, followed by a return to 80+ weather!

Yeah some of y'all are crazy with your thermostats. I can't imagine having my AC set to 60F or my heat set to 80+F!

All the locals are complaining about how high their latest electric bills are. $250 here, $400 there, and how about $600 over there! And I'm over here at $45 for electric and $40 for gas this last month. I guess I don't get to brag about how high my electric bills are since I don't have a 4,000 SF house... guess I'm living wrong. LOL

Cold finally starting to show up on the ensembles for North America but unfortunately, looks like core is Northeast...the 500mb orientation and subsequent trajectory looks much different than Mid January!
