They cancelled our WSW earlier and just now issued a WWA for Wichita County. Not really seeing any indication that we should be included in this but I guess the NWS should cover their bases.

The back side doesn't look too bad down there tbh. Definitely a few hours of snow anyway

00z EPS looks to be coming in noticeably colder ( especially for the 18-21st timeframe) compared to the 12z run

Lots of large hail reports coming out of Tyler in the last few minutes. I think the worst will stay south of me in Longview as it heads this way... we'll see.
*Edit - 2-inch hail reported in South Tyler.

Came here to say this. Big hail in the East Texas storms. Thankfully it stayed south of me.

If Sunday busts they were so dead wrong about this entire winter here. Like I don't even get it people said it would be better than last winter and it's not been at all
Kind of wild when the runs were showing 3 feet of snow. Track/precip shield has shifted somewhat south, with still marginal cold outside the Panhandles. Amarillo-Lubbock may cash big on this one. Might be colder west and southwest of the ULL than north.
Even central Texas might be colder at the surface than parts of northeast Oklahoma as the low crosses.
When I was at TTexas TTech in the 90’s, we experienced this a couple of times with cold-core ULLs in a Pacific Airmass being just cold enough to get us snow up on the Llano Estacado. One time, we spent an entire Met class analyzing the event with Dr. Peterson. Fun times.

You were at Tech in the 90s?? I was too! You mentioned Dr. Peterson. Dr. Peterson showed me around the top floor of the Admin. building. I did my minor there in Atmospheric Science. He was SUPER COOL and nice and a great source of knowledge for weather questions I had. They had such a cool setup up there of equipment and monitors! I felt like I was in my element!

I did my Individual Studies class under Dr. Leary. I think it was a combination of plotting isobars of temps, humidity, pressures, etc. Then measuring the dry adiabatic and wet adiabatic lapse rates assuming constant pressure, or something like that(?). Sorry, I'm geeking out. Been too long!lol
Who knows, I may have seen you or run into you! Small world!

Looks like everyone here is hoping the warm air melts half the snow
They might be right I mean we have barely even had a freeze this month but I really want them to be wrong

1-3 with an isolated spot up to 6 seems to be agreement here. Like I said they are really banking on losing a ton to the warm ground

The TXDOT cameras along I-27 between Lubbock and Amarillo are pretty impressive right now. https://its.txdot.gov/its/District/CHS

Ah yes the Feb 2010 snow storm is happening again, right around the same date! Except a touch further north and west.

Re: Texas Winter 2023-2024
I'm not seeing anything other than typical February weather for the rest of the month across Texas. My upgraded wall, with the help of Phil, is doing its job well. Looking forward to the 80s of March. It's currently a chilly 72 and raining here in Houston.
