Re: Texas Spring 2024
Got away with one here - we’re in northwest Arlington right next to Interlochen. The worst of the storm arced around our house like a curling stone and the hail core fell apart and reformed south of here.

Re: Texas Spring 2024
Is that another storm forming in the same spot heading the same way, round 2?

Some finally formed further west, but they aren't going south, so they still won't hit me. Lol. I'm not even at home, but still checking in on things. Lol.

We mostly missed out too in Collin County (other than some sprinkles and a few rumbles of thunder), but that said, the core of DFW finally got some action with numerous large to very large hail reports across Dallas County after missing out all season.
Looking forward, as a first this season, I'm struggling to envision a scenario where any part of the Metroplex will avoid action over the next few hours with the burgeoning MCS along the Red River and a instability maximum right over DFW (5,000 J/KG of MUCAPE, 8.5 C/KM Mid-Level Lapse Rates, 50 J/KG of 3km CAPE and -14 LIs).
I suppose shear is less impressive than it has been all season, but it's still sufficient enough.

Oh boy, this was a hell of a one.
Got a notification for 80 MPH destructive winds right before getting gobsmacked.
We lost power almost immediately. It was like a hurricane out there.

That's the cell that just blew here. It was (and still is) brutal.

This has to be the worst (widespread) hit for the Metroplex since June 2019...

Pretty nasty out there for sure. Some training going on from northwest to SE. Some flooding going on with rivers and creeks full.

If there's an upside, at least this happened before rush hour picked up.
Another 1-2 hours woukd have been an even worse mess.

DFW airport is approaching an inch, monthly should cross 5" with more before month is over likely. Love field is over 7".

Re: Texas Spring 2024
Absolutely dumping here. Just got an email from my daughter's school delaying school until 9 am. I've never seen a rain delay before. Winter weather obviously but never for rain.

Will have to wait for a survey to confirm, but there may have been a brief rain-wrapped spin up here or close by (down towards Richardson & Garland) per the radar images I've seen (very clear commahead).

Re: Texas Spring 2024
Getting wake winds again with the storm having passed.
Nothing nearly as intense as the storm itself or even what we saw Sunday morning, but solid 30-40 MPH post-storm gusts.
EDIT: Wake winds are really picking up now.

ONCOR reporting almost 600k without power in the metroplex. Did not expect to wake up to this.
