No change.
Florida Peninsula and Offshore Southeast U.S. (AL90):
An elongated area of low pressure over the Florida peninsula
continues to produce a large area of disorganized showers and
thunderstorms. Although upper-level winds are expected to be only
marginally conducive, some slow development is possible while the
system moves northeastward offshore of the U.S. Southeast coast
tonight through late week. Regardless of development, heavy
rainfall is forecast to continue across portions of the Florida
peninsula during the next few days. For more information, see
products issued by the Weather Prediction Center and local National
Weather Service Forecast Offices.
* Formation chance through 48 hours...low...10 percent.
* Formation chance through 7 days...low...20 percent.

Watching all that rain and the reports of severe flooding in S. FL makes me sad. It was just RAIN. Not even a "tropical" system (only a PRE-tropical wave), apparently.
I grew up in many of the areas they have reported on. It makes me worry that if there IS a "wet" hurricane in that part of the state this year, the flooding will be catastrophic.

Florida is never as prepared as it thinks it is.

South Florida is decently prepared for winds because of strict building codes but flooding is an entire different beast and from my 6 years there, it is far from being prepared to handle flooding. Even Alex a couple of years back caused severe flooding in Miami and it repeated again but with even worse results this time and more widespread.
