Re: Texas Summer 2024
Temps look to stay on the reasonable side next week as the tropics send some rain and cloud cover into Texas. More than likely just some clouds up our way. Any method of keeping temps down this time of year is a blessing in my book.

Re: Texas Summer 2024
Yup...all signs pointing to some welcome rainfall next week across areas of South and S Central Texas that definitely need it the most. As is typically the case when discussing anything of tropical influence, we have to of course be mindful of getting too much too fast, but hopefully this event provides a good soaking of which will put a significant dent in the drought that currently still exist across much of the region as mentioned by South Texas Storms.

The placement of those totals would be good for Lake Travis!

That heat ridge forming over the eastern, particularly northeastern, US is no joke. Pretty unusual heights are that high that far north. Hoping it's a sign like 2007 where it was way hotter in the E-US while we were raining and cooler during the summer.

I hope so too because this is our first heat advisory of the year here and I am not impressed

This thread topic is Texas Summer 2024, but thought I mention something interesting about UK weather. Apparently, they haven't seen summer yet. A couple of people told me this is the longest they've ever seen the London cold & dreary last into June. Just anecdotal and don't have numbers to provide, but thought it interesting.

It was just a couple summers ago that southern England and other parts of mainland Europe were scorching with record heat. Some fires broke out and affected play at Wimbledon if I'm not mistaken.

Re: Texas Summer 2024
Models have started to trend a bit more up the TX coast with a potential TS / tropical moisture slug. The 00z GFS would be big trouble for the Houston area. Some 25"+ totals down that way.

Yeah definitely a trend north as of late but obviously a lot of uncertainty remains until we get some kind of center/low to form. Regardless a ton of moisture to work with.

Re: Texas Summer 2024
Yeah, I saw a model that had it mostly skimming San Antonio with the bulk to the north. Fort Worth would get more rain than S.A. Okay for Austin, but no thanks, DFW is full. Send it to where it is needed: Del Rio-Austin line and extending all the way northwest to NM through the area that identifies as the Trans-Pecos.

It’s because most people on here are from DFW and they aren’t expected to get much outta it.

Oh, I'm watching it all right. Seems the models are shifting the center of the possible rain bomb around; anything in the Colorado watershed up above Austin is good. So would be the southern Hill Country, one of the last spots in Texas still in Extreme Drought status.

Re: Texas Summer 2024
Finally it looks like we will be getting a good soaker down here in Deep South Texas...5-7 Inches seems to be the consensus right now. The best part is that our watershed looks like will be getting a much needed drink! Hopefully the lakes and reservoirs in South Texas and Northern Mexico get a significant rise in water levels.

Re: Texas Summer 2024
Odds continue to increase that a significant portion of the coastal region inland into South Central Texas could see excessive rainfall from this disturbance/potential tropical storm. Most of the models in particular the GFS have been locked in over the past several runs. Now that we have an official invest designation (#91L) confidence should become even greater as it relates to the track.
Good news is we have a ton of moisture to work with and that will encompass a large portion of South/ South Central Texas where rainfall is obviously needed. With ridging establishing itself across the NE stretching back into North Texas by Wednesday, that will likely keep most of the heavier rainfall and whatever system develops well south of that region.
