Alberto overachieving may be an indicator of what’s to come for this season. It seems the background conditions are good.

I am only a tropical weather enthusiast. My predictions are not official and may or may not be backed by sound meteorological data. For official information, please refer to the NHC and NWS products.

Alberto's problem was how large of a distrabance it formed from and it took the frictional effects of the system approaching the eastern coast of mexico for it to tighten up to finally develop the core. It couldn't do it until the last 12 hours or so before landfall. Quite a few systems do this.

The system just didn't have the organization to take advantage to the conditions without frictional effects of land and the window was short once it did.

I made a manual pluviometer and it says that I have received approximately 9.1 in (233 mm) of rain from Alberto since wednesday that equals to the mean rain of half of the year here. According to Conagua, Alberto's rain peaked at Santiago, N.L with 24.2 in (614.5 mm)
