Chris. Hum...I wonder if it will be a major ( huge sarcasm inserted) ? Lol

Chris is always short-lived and weak. He would perform better later in the summer when it's hotter.

Not sure the reason for keeping this a depression when there's plenty of TS winds

I believe it's because it has multiple centers at the moment so isn't organized enough to be classified as a TS.

Tropical storms are based on wind speed and not organization unless it is judged by satellite estimates. This has recon data directly supporting it as a tropical storm. I've seen dozens of systems that looked like this that were tropical storms....lol

It's interesting that they didn't at least address the recon winds in the discussion. Usually they do so if they choose to deviate.

2024 wants to let us know that although it can show off early season quality like Beryl it can also do slop like Chris is going to be.

The range we are seeing so far.

Fingers crossed they don’t. I’d like my namesake to survive more than 6 hours

Oops. :P

Well, assuming they don't decide to retire him, you'll see him again in 6 years.

3 storms before June ends (local time at least). So there's something even 2005 and 2020 can't say.

Reports from an Air Force Reserve Unit Hurricane Hunter aircraft
indicate that the maximum sustained winds are now near 35 kt so the
system is being named at this time.
