Still deepening. If these trends continue a little longer it’ll be an easy cat 5 on the next NE pass.

I am only a tropical weather enthusiast. My predictions are not official and may or may not be backed by sound meteorological data. For official information, please refer to the NHC and NWS products.

Does anybody happen to see the 40° dew point reading? That has got to be damn near impossible. Is a 104° dew point. Any opinions on it?

937mb, 137 kts surface IMO. Flags 3 and 5 both indicate issues with SFMR data,

Assuming they go back to the NE quadrant. I hope this isn’t one of those flights where they leave after just 2 passes.

I am only a meteorology enthusiast who knows a decent amount about tropical cyclones. Look to the professional mets, the NHC, or your local weather office for the best information.

I am in no way a professional. Take what I say with a grain of salt as I could be totally wrong. Please refer to the NHC, NWS, or SPC for official information.

If the central pressure still really is falling the wind speeds will catch up.

Beryl called on the spirits of the 1933 Trinidad Hurricane, Ivan, Dennis, and Emily

Is an AF plane scheduled to sample the storm as well overnight? Or is this NOAA the only recon until tomorrow?

For Jamaica's sake it better get knocked down by something soon, Cat 5 into that island would be quite a disaster (almost 3M people). Because with the trajectory getting nudged north it's sure looking like they're pretty close to the path, if not directly in the way. Even if it stay south a bit, they'll get the worst winds.

Agreed, I worry so much for the people. Infrastructure can be rebuilt, people can not

And Jamaica hasn't been hit by a significant hurricane in a while.

Insane video that was. It's so weird to hear people laughing and hooting and hollering in the background as roofs are blown off and tons of other damage occurred. Maybe it was just nervous laughter I don't know.

Here's a drone video of the aftermath. Looks like every building was damaged.

I've been tracking hurricanes for over 30 years and I still can't get over the juxtaposition between how beautiful mature intense storms are on satellite and the miracle by which wind and water vapor can organize itself, and the grinding power on the ground that can, in a few hours, turn your whole world into garbage.

I believe Sandy hit Jamaica as a cat 1 but this should be stronger than Sandy if it hits Jamaica. Ivan might have been the last major hurricane to hit Jamaica directly but Dean also passed just south of Jamaica.

So, Beryl has joined the infamous 155 club. Many have tried, many have failed. Will Beryl make it over the C5 goal line?........MGC

Ivan also passed just to the south of Jamaica. The last major hurricane to make direct landfall in Jamaica was Gilbert in 1988:
