Incredible how we almost had a Cat 5 in June.

It's happened in November (1932) so it can happen anytime in the hurricane season.

An image to keep for posterity. I'm still in shock that I'm reading this on JULY 2nd. I admit that I am very uncomfortable with what may happen in the future.

This is absolutely historical. Beryl has had me awestruck several times as I have tracked it since its birth as a mere wave. My prayers to the people in its path, past & future. Thank you for all the knowledge I’ve gained. Truly unprecedented in both terms of climatology and scale for this time of year.

What an incredible storm- here's a record I suspect will hold for quite a long time. It's been an honor to witness history with you tonight, Storm2k.

There is a more ominous feeling that's sticking with me right now too- I really doubt Beryl will be the strongest storm we see this season...

Way north of every model right now.

Few days ago we all thought this would be an open wave crashing into Belize... Cat 5 on JULY 1!

Remember when this was supposed to peak as a cat 2?

More hostile than where it is right now for sure I think we might see some slight strengthening in the Gulf but it is far enough out that there is still a lot of uncertainty.

Hoping that High Pressure can hold out long enough over the northern GOM.

I still think that Beryl has been a Cat 5 for nearly 12 hours now after it passed Granada. Probably at 145 kts. My opinion of course.

Oh, it gets even crazier. WPACs' strongest system this year is 95 kt Ewiniar, so Atlantic beat the WEST PACIFIC to a major hurricane. Let that sink in.

At this point, everything is on the table. A 190 mph landfall on Miami. A hurricane that beats Cyclone Freddy's total ACE. A December Category 5 hurricane. I wouldn't be surprised.

Unless explicitly stated, all info in my posts is based on my own opinions and observations. Tropical storms and hurricanes can be extremely dangerous. Do not think you can beat Mother Nature. Refer to an accredited weather research agency or meteorologist if you need to make serious decisions regarding an approaching storm.

The one I'm eyeing is a sub-900 storm. I'd never bet on it, but if there ever seemed to be a year...

This is what is the most remarkable... not just that its the earliest in July being July 1st.... but weve never had a 5 in July operationally. This is absolutely mind boggling. We already have more tropical waves headed to the region also....

This season will likely reset climatology expectations.

Or a sub-870 storm? Patricia showed that it was possible to at least approach it.

And we're witnessing a historical moment at the moment, folks. Not looking good for Jamaica at the moment. Hoping the preparations there are ramped up.
