You think so? According to NHC, "The only time that there is a change is if a storm is so deadly or costly that the future use of its name on a different storm would be inappropriate for obvious reasons of sensitivity."

I just dont see this storm producing legendary damage or much loss of life. Not to downplay the damage it has caused - but likely not enough to retire.

I agree, but Beryl says...hold my beer too many times.

The damage in Grenada alone may be enough to retire imo.

Some one mentioned on here a few days ago of this scenario....the ULL to the west sling shotting this around once it weakened over land. Definitely getting over water sooner than any model run I have seen.

The LT. Gov of Texas just declared several coastal counties disaster areas. They said that everything east of the I35 corridor can expect a lot of flooding.

1st off, I think it was REALLY bad to say that. Secondly, that means this storm is going to race to Louisiana.

So could this mean the storm at next landfall could be stronger than models are predicting now?

Quite possibly, they did get stomped.

As best I can tell here is where I think the center of Beryl is located. Looking at the VIS SAT LOOPS indication of strong convection building on the west and south side of the eyewall

I just dont see this storm producing legendary damage or much loss of life. Not to downplay the damage it has caused - but likely not enough to retire.

Carriacou and Petite Martinique saw catastrophic damage. While the overall damages and loss of life numbers may not be anything crazy, the severity of the damage in these specific areas might be enough. But Idalia wasn't retired so I could see it either way. Texas impacts will certainly increase its chances.

I am only a tropical weather enthusiast. My predictions are not official and may or may not be backed by sound meteorological data. For official information, please refer to the NHC and NWS products.

Its north of the ULL's CoC.
Beryl needs to stay well away from that once it gets in the vicinity.

I’m confused, would that help or hurt Beryl?

7500 CAPE is nearly unheard of. That's about as much juicy energy as there could be.

Surprised there’s that much, but not at the same time for Beryl to take advantage of. Even in North Florida, the dew point is almost 80 degrees. The atmosphere feels juiced up. Feel like most of the South and Gulf Coast are in the same boat.

I would rather know the possibilities than get blind sided. Just be prepared. I am in SE Tx and stay prepared. Been through to many Hurricanes that changed up at the last minute not to. JMO.

It flattened several islands of Grenada and caused flooding and damage in Jamaica. The way retirement works, even if Beryl were to magically dissipate now, those two countries could request retirement next spring. And considering this was and looks to be the most powerful and destructive storm to hit Grenada in recorded history, it's extremely likely that Beryl will be retired.

Unless explicitly stated, all info in my posts is based on my own opinions and observations. Tropical storms and hurricanes can be extremely dangerous. Do not think you can beat Mother Nature. Refer to an accredited weather research agency or meteorologist if you need to make serious decisions regarding an approaching storm.

I suspect Grenada will request retirement. This was a once-in-a-generation event for them.

Hate to say it but it certainly looks like it will get back in the GOM this afternoon, and the latest sat images to me are surprisingly healthy as she approaches the GOM and starts to pull energy from a hot GOM.

Just incredible how it keeps moving more to the north. Believe the upper low to the west is having a larger influence on steering than models can pick up.

What were the steering systems or data, that the models were taking into account to continue with that westward track for so long? When the only time Beryl moved in a more westward direction was when it occasionally wobbled that way? :(

IF…Beryl heads toward Houston/Galveston instead of Corpus or mid-Texas coast, how much more time would it have in the Gulf?

Wow, she looks primed to go when she hits the water.
