Starting to organize further and move into the life stage of a mature tropical storm, signs of a CDO.

My posts are my own personal opinion, defer to the National Hurricane Center (NHC) and other NOAA products for decision making during hurricane season.

Drop supports 992
That's quite a bit lower than I expected compared to a couple hours ago...

I am in no way a professional. Take what I say with a grain of salt as I could be totally wrong. Please refer to the NHC, NWS, or SPC for official information.

Yeah that's kind of concerning, even the NAM 12z (which shows 969mb at landfall) doesn't have it at 992mb until 7 hours from now

Now forecast to peak at 80 kt at landfall - knocking on the door of Cat 2.

Almost a hurricane already and still has a whole day to strengthen. Really getting Beryl-esque vibes with this one, but if Beryl had had about 12 more hours before landfall.

Dry air entrainment from the southwest will probably keep a lid on the RI for the time being, but I think steady strengthening will likely continue. Once that dry air is walled off though, there’s nothing else to hold it back.

And BTW - after being near the eye wall of Beryl in Houston, I’ll never dismiss a ‘Cat 1’ again. It hit harder than Ike.

Those 31-32 deg C water temperatures are doing their magic. Shear most have dropped again to take advantage of the very warm waters.

Hopefully not a trendThe cyclone has been turning gradually to the right and the initial
motion is north-northwestward or 330/11 kt.

Intense band rolling up along the beaches and coastal Lee. Been going for 20+ mins and looks like more to come per the radar. Most activity yet ...
