Something about the shape of the storm vs the shore line - plus the two blobs that look like fists screams I'm about to take off.

Not sure what to make of that elongated oval look on radar, if you focus on the sw side it looks like it's looping back south and being stretched to the NE at the same time. I hope it's not deciding to stall early here or something weird.

It's a flood threat. The danger will be the slowdown near GA/SC. Not expecting much more than a minimal hurricane at landfall (75-85mph).

With all the rain this storm is leaving behind, hoards of mosquitos will soon be a reality.

Here is a natural repellant for mosquito control. Better for us all than insecticides.

Here is an article I found:

"Mosquitos are the worst. A pleasant backyard barbecue can be ruined by the little bloodsuckers. When mosquitos are around, you’re too busy swatting at the bugs to enjoy food and conversation.

The worst part is that they can carry serious viruses like Zika. Some people are even allergic to mosquitos, making their bites more than just annoying.

As awful as mosquitos are, most repellants on the market are also pretty awful. If you spend a lot of time outside during mosquito season, you can spend a ton of money buying these sprays. Even worse than the cost is the fact that they can be bad for your health.

As unlikely as it sounds, the solution is coffee grounds! According to the EPA, coffee grounds are a safe and effective way to keep pests away. Coffee grounds can help repel not only mosquitos but also other annoying insects like wasps and bees.

Why are coffee grounds effective? Most bugs have a very strong sense of smell. Coffee grounds have a strong smell but it’s even stronger when they are burned.

This smell will bother the pests and keep them away. Insects also generally associate smoke with danger, so the smoke alone is a signal to them to find shelter elsewhere.

How to Burn Coffee Grounds for Mosquito Control:
* Start with dry grounds. If you are using used grounds, put them in a bowl covered with foil and leave it in a cool, dark place until the grounds are completely dry.
* Place the grounds either in a bowl or on a flat surface (like a piece of aluminum foil) outside.
Burn the grounds like you would burn incense.
* Choose a spot upwind of your location for best results.
* For an extra dose of repellent, add fresh bay leaves to the fire.
* * For an outdoor event, you might want to set up several of these burning stations surrounding the area of the gathering
Using coffee grounds to keep mosquitos away is the best mosquito repellent. It’s extremely cheap, especially if you’re already a coffee drinker and have grounds on hand. It’s incredibly easy to do. It’s entirely natural and much safer than any commercial product."

I am expecting the upgrade to hurricane at 11pm even though the strongest winds are well displaced from the center. The NOAA plane did show SFMR wind near hurricane force, but that may off as shallow water can skew the measurement.

Currently in between bands in Citrus Park. Wind alternating between relative calm to rogue burst of stiff gusts and whistling sounds against the window. Definitely stronger winds now than during the daytime, which was mostly rain.

Interesting take. Most of my readings indicate an elongated eye is likely to be an asymmetrical storm about to better organize and strengthen

Been gone for a few hours, wow what a dramatic change in radar presentation. Eyewall is quickly filling in on the ne side and the last of the dry air is being snuffed out. If RI is in fact going to happen, its likely starting now.

DeSoto County just put under Tornado Warning yet again.

Third (or fourth?) one today! I suspect we'll see a couple more tonight as the storm moves inland and then east, dragging the tail end of the clouds behind her across the state.

Tampa 10 confirming the NE movement the last few hours. That combined with the elongated eye tells me this might be coming ashore far closer to Cedar key than anyone thought. This will blast NE FL tomorrow morning if it holds.

I hope it doesn't linger (stall).

Just leave, Debby. You're the unwanted guest to our "home" (state).

It almost looks like Debby is moving due east… what in the world?

My posts are my own personal opinion, defer to the National Hurricane Center (NHC) and other NOAA products for decision making during hurricane season.
