Step back a little and look at the big picture. The front extends off the east coast right down to Virginia. The strong winds the plane found may be mostly due to the front rather than Debby's circulation. More of a subtropical storm now. In any case, it'll be mostly inland by this evening and I can take my first day off on Friday following 11 straight days of long hurricane shifts. I'm ready for the season to end.

Guess you're talking about the 50mph winds? That is a pier at Myrtle Beach. Looks 30+/- sustained and occasional higher gusts. The airport there is only reporting gusts to 30 but if you're on the immediate coastline, winds are certainly higher.

To me, a sorry amateur it kind of looks like a feeder band. Here on the east coast we don't really have much in the way with true fronts until September. But Debbie has seemed to wash out a bit of the continental dry air, but has too short a time to work with it. LOL, long shifts, we are in 2024, we aren't in Kanas anymore. Enjoy your Thanksgiving.

Agree - with that large wide open shape with the appearance of more convective energy 100 miles from the center than 20 miles.

It's inland but a circulation is not well defined in obs. Highest wind I saw overnight was 20 kts gusting 45 kts at Wilmington. No evidence at all of 34+ kt winds. There could have been some offshore last evening, but not now. No wind event inland, just more rain. It was not much of a tropical system at landfall, more subtropical. More extratropical now.

Some serious tornados last nite about 40 mi north of here (we're just SE of Raleigh) and 3" of rain so far. It's breezy but certainly not TS breezy. Power is still on tho cable and Internet is out.

Looks like the worst of Debby is now to your north. Not much wind or rain to your south.

Here in NC between Wilmington and Carolina Beach. Buckets of rain last night, sporadic since then. I was hoping it might speed up some more today and that wall of water would miss us on the recurve, but it doesn't look like that's going to happen.
