Am I crazy to think I felt a wind shift in Plano earlier this evening?

The last couple of mornings have felt noticeably cooler. Still pretty warm for the next week+ though for here, with mid-upper 90's forecast.

That front on the gfs next weekend here would be something else. Probably almost unheard of

But yeah regardless I have been noticing more moments at least where it's not blazing hot

Wow, it didn't feel like the bowels of heck this morning. Still 80, but that is far different from 88 at 8:45 in the morning. Those few degrees make a difference.

8 consecutive days of 100+ degrees @ DFW Airport, 13th 100+ degree days thus far for August, and the forecast calls for more of the same through middle of next week. :sun:

according to NWS FTW the forecast high for today is 99  I'm hoping for 100, lets keep that consecutive streak going :onfire:

Pretty good bet these 100’s are going to be history for a bit as we get closer to the start of september, all models agree on a big front, courtesy of the NAO going negative, relief is coming, and it looks like it could be a pretty stormy front as well

Met here has 70s for highs Labor Day weekend :double: that's also the first time I've seen the word exciting in a weather post in awhile

He pretty much says summer will be over after that front. I don't know if I'd go that far but probably nothing long lived

My backyard Tempest got to 107 yesterday. Hottest for that station so far. It usually registers a little cooler than other areas because it's set up near an area of woods. I will gladly take more normal August temps.lol

Models show a setup that might provide some tropical moisture for Texas: a stalled front across the Gulf and a weak wave moving westward towards Texas. 12z Canadian was the most aggressive, but a trackable wave did show up on the Euro and GFS.

Been watching this for a couple of days and I have seen this turn into a weak TS, despite the models thinking otherwise. I dont think most would be against a weak TS. If the CoC remains over water, it could turn into a little something.

Summer's for hibernation, Winter’s my vacation

Don't use my posts as forecast, I'm a complete meteorology noob! I just like cold weather, alright?

All observations I post are for Temple, Texas unless otherwise stated.

Ok, so here's a new one for me. Wet Bulb Globe Temperature

https://www.uiltexas.org/health/info/he ... ticipation

My son's practice was canceled for city baseball and they said we follow UIL rules now.

I can't get that site to load for the "forecast" and I'm not finding this forecast metric on FWD site. Anyone have any help on this?

It's like the heat index... except wet bulb temperatures are measured in direct sunlight vs. shade, and they factor in sun angle/time of day, wind speed, etc. Most of the time, the WBGT is going to be even higher than the heat index.

A large part of North Texas is now under moderate drought conditions.

This is of course nothihg compared to 2023, but yeah, still an impressve turnaround with the surplus we had as of early June.

Can't help but wonder how much worse this Summer would have been drought & heat-wise without the unusually early start to the season we had for global tropical activity in the first half of July.

For a la nina summer, it hasnt been too too bad, imo. Speaking more for C/SE Tx. The rains this weekend will be a welcoming sight.

Here in CO, the difference between a nino and nina summer are quite obvious. The main difference is how quickly storms bubble up in the afternoon and their strength. Nino brings many more hail storms our way.

That big front still looking promising for the start of September. I’m ready for some relief.

GFS still showing the Labor Day weekend front. And seems to give most of Texas at least some rain through the end of the period.

I was surprised to see a 30% chance of rain here today. His-res models were right, small showers/storms in East Texas popped up mid-day and while I only got 0.05", I'll take it. That's my monthly total for August.
