It can't get cooler if there isn't cooler air to the north. The only other source would be from rain-cooled air which we haven't received either. LaLaLand models isn't trustworthy currently.

Re: Texas Fall 2024
Well it finally rained at least (3rd latest first rainfall in September)
And apparently there was a tornado or microburst in Pawnee
Maybe things are slowly changing

Hot today and tomorrow, then we cool off quite a bit from it.

The models have shifted where an upper level trough will cutoff and absorb the gulf system. While we're likely on the drier side, because of the blocking in Canada we trap the cooler upper level feature.

Re: Texas Fall 2024
Monday may struggle to 70 here after today is making another run at 100
Also I just saw from Colorado it's the first snow for the mountains coming up
It's in the 60s in the Oklahoma panhandle right now

Re: Texas Fall 2024
For DFW including today got us above normal (I really count anything ~0.5F either way as "near normal.") but it will actually be a coolish week to end the month. Quite possible we dip back below 0F anomaly average for the month of September which has been 1/3rd cool, 1/3rd hot, and possibly 1/3rd normal-to cool. So in the end roughly an average September anomaly wise.
Normal for late September is mid 80s for highs and mid 60s for lows.

Re: Texas Fall 2024
Euro/ GFS and the CMC are all starting to show some legit cooler fall air moving out of canada with a little more ridging over alaska helping to build up a cool air pool, which eventually gets dislodged south

Re: Texas Fall 2024
The current cool down is due to an upper level trough stuck over the region. This is a result of a record breaking -NAO for September.
There really isn't yet a cold air mass as the northern latitudes remains very warm. For now.

Re: Texas Fall 2024
18z GEFS has a decent cold front around the 1/2nd of October, hopefully we can get in a pattern in which we get a FROPA every 7-10 days or so
