Doubtful at 45,000 feet.

Not if it's a Gulfstream
And apologies for off topic...

Z they are all over YouTube. Ryan Hall has multitudes of them and has the most viewers like 130k. He’s got links and radio contact with most of the major chasers.

Recon got stuck in the eye apparently for a little while.

PTPatrick wrote:seems that Tallahassee Hurricane eye shield will remain intact, but I do wonder just how bad it will get there. I imagine it would be worse than Michael and perhaps Kate…as big as this thing is a few miles will still make a difference in whether the city stays in the western eyewall for a long time and that will of course dictate how much worse this is for the city than previous storms. Lots of potential for destruction there, but I guess we will know in a few hours. West eye wall is actually quite nasty on this one too.

Either way this is a monster and while it will suck for the small communities down in the path, thankfully the monster surge and worse eye wall wind at the coast will be largely unpopulated places…Swamps taking take the punch for Valdosta. That said, it’s gonna be bad in Georgia too…and Atlanta better be ready, not to mention the flooding potential in the mountains. All gonna be ugly.

Tampa's has worked for what now.. 115 years?

My prayers are with all of you in the path of Helene.

I have a relative scheduled to fly into Charleston, SC mid-day tomorrow (Friday). Can anyone make a prediction what Charleston will experience with the storm? Thank you!

Spectrum News and Bay News 9 on tv just showed Gulf blvd completely underwater. Check out their website and fb page. Shocking!

I remember Michael and Ian being morning/afternoon landfalls.

Now a large area in the NE quad that is consistently exceeding the 142mph maximum of the radar’s scale. Clearly still intensifying despite its core looking like half a donut.

Charleston got a tornado warning and a heavy downpour about an hour ago, but we're not expecting anything too extreme in term of sustained wind and rainfall totals. Tornado threat could continue overnight but we should be out of the worst of it by morning, assuming the NHC forecast track holds.

geez just watched a livestream of 2 homeless people trying to ride it out under a bridge somewhere in Pasco county. One of the guys had a big gash on his leg, they went to get out of the area and the water was like chest deep and the stream abruptly shut off and a scream.

People were saying they likely got electrocuted

That is consummately insane, I've never seen any setup like that before! Is the front actually being pushed back a bit? Didn't think that was possible.

Tropical Tidbits still down - I wanted to check the hurricane models for what pressures they are giving out for LF. Even cod is starting to flake out a bit.

NOAA plane is on the way back out now anyway, for those worried.

They made 12 loops so I hope they got what they wanted...without getting dizzy :double:
They got a dropsonde right into the eyewall and a wind of 92kts

Where can you see the live tracking ?

Thanks!

They had a tornado warning this past hour. Refer to their NWS page. Click on a spot and it will give you the current hazards and expected conditions.
