Look at that channel. I don’t think I’ve ever seen this exact setup. Just due north moisture channel looking like a Pineapple Express.

I keep saying I've never seen so much moisture NORTH of a storm. It's usually the trailing end where the clouds follow the storm. This is one for the record books.

I fear in many ways it will make records.

Same. Scott has been reporting from Atlanta for a couple of days. He was already caught in the flow ahead of the trough. You don’t expect quite this pattern though a storm coming up the east side of a trough is a given. But the eastern side of this trough is literally south to north with the cut off in there. Maybe it’s not historic but my old ass never saw it set up like this before.

Camille hit on the LA/MS border. It was an epic storm.

Texas? Not even close. MISSISSIPPI!

And Camille was a hurricane where 200mph winds were recorded when it came ashore. To this day it is the barometer all hurricanes are measured to.

Knew it didn't hit Tampa - forgot where it went but it was '69 and well off in the Gulf as it passed Tampa Bay yet flooded the beaches like crazy.

Getting some really intense gusts of wind in SE Marion county - just a few miles east of I75. Looks like we’re about 90 miles outside of the eye wall currently.
I probably won’t be venturing outside to my back porch again until it passes.

Why does it feel like these storms ALWAYS come ashore when it's dark? The reason I say that is that every time I end up staying up all night to watch (and often regretting it). At least this time it won't be like 2am.

Yea, I'm in California, so I'm lucking out as it will still be early here when it comes ashore. But yea plenty of other storms I missed out on due to their landfalling time. I'm addicted to watching live footage. I haven't seen Cantore yet on the weather channel. Not sure he will make an appearance tonight.

They reported to have been caught in some crazy updraft that caused mechanical issues for a while then bolted out southwest.
