Big winds in Kirk's north on SAR, although not associated with the developing core.

Looks like there is some cold blobs of convection exploding just south of the LLC, Let's see if that can help Kirk to become better aligned and ready to start a more significant intensification phase.

A blend of ADT/AiDT/DPRINT/DMINT puts the current intensity at 70kt/984mb. Raw T# are even up to 5.4 as an eye is forming on Dvorak/IR imagery.

Looking a lot better this morning. Starting to shrimp out a bit with concentrated deep convection trying to wrap around the center. I imagine we’ll see a low-end Cat 2 by tonight if this keeps up, then a major tomorrow.

I am only a meteorology enthusiast who knows a decent amount about tropical cyclones. Look to the professional mets, the NHC, or your local weather office for the best information.

Today appears to be the day that Kirk is going to put itself together. Banding is impressive and the core looks to be tightening up.

Kirk is looking good, expecting significant strengthening in the next 24 hours. The automatic ADT center seems a bit misaligned with the center of convection. It could be that the convection just isn't symmetrical yet, but if I'd adjust the center I think ADT would be around 80 kt, similar to the 82 kt DPRINT analysis. SATCON still a bit lower at 72 kt. Either way, I expect an upgrade to 80 kt at the next advisory and a cat 2 soon afterwards.

He has a very Typhoon-like look to him.

This is probably close to major hurricane now. Anyone knows why the goes16 meso sector switched from Kirk to random area in the midwest?
