This mission was quickly put together for Oscar (the morning breakfast surprise). The tasking for Nadine was canceled due to the system already making landfall.

Speaking of Oscar, this is wrapping up pretty quickly. A 'microcane' is definitely in the cards here:

As another size comparison, we have 'big sister' Nadine that formed from more of a CAG style process, and 'little brother' Oscar that exclusively formed from an AEW and essentially had to form the smallest core possible to survive  :

I think it's trying to build a core with that hot tower rotation. We will see what recon finds.

Yea really unique system. Where are our tornado experts at? :P The radius of the inner core has to be in the range of ~5 miles at best.

I glanced at the TWO yesterday morning. I happened to see a news article about Nadine and rush to the NHC site just in time to see TS Nadine about to landfall and TS Oscar being designated. Talk about whiplash! The tropics can certainly catch you off guard!

I had a feeling last night’s TWO was way too harsh on this lol.

It’s so tiny, and tracking a little further north of the islands. Could a brief hurricane be a possibility?

I am only a meteorology enthusiast who knows a decent amount about tropical cyclones. Look to the professional mets, the NHC, or your local weather office for the best information.

Jeff Linder in Houston just wrote Oscar off as no threat to the US. As strange as this season has been, isn't it a bit early for that? I.understand giving Houston all clear due to the cool front and dry air.
"10-19-24

Couple of tropical storms have formed in the Atlantic basin

Nadine in the western Caribbean and will move inland over Belize shortly.

Oscar near the SE Bahamas will slowly move in that area before turning NE out to sea early to mid next week.

Neither systems pose a direct threat to the US."

Given its impressive organization (contrasted with the bearish TWOs), what's the likelihood that Oscar tries to pull a John? I would expect that to be pretty low given that this part of the Atlantic has way more observations than where John was, but you never know.

Oscar does not pose a direct threat to the US.
It is a true statement.
IMO, nothing wrong with the statement.
