70 in OKC today. We have had minimal cold and barely any snow the last 2-3 years. Following the discussions here make the case for another uneventful winter.

Oh believe me I've been so annoyed by our winters but after going to Breckenridge last week and seeing them way ahead of schedule I'm still optimistic this year will be different. If it's not I don't understand anymore honestly with our climo

DFW overachieving by several degrees today, thanks in part to a significant late day break in the clouds.

Currently 76*F.

There was an intra hour reading of 79, see if it stands. Regardless made it to upper 70s.

We hit about 82 here today. Was a toasty one down here. Lots of humidity too and now it’s a foggy soupy mess outside. Nasty.

It's a different world up here LOL, I've had my heater on most days for the last 3+ weeks. We have 3 freezes in the forecast this upcoming week.

Well yeah, you’re basically halfway to Canada from where I live.

Nothing says winter like a severe weather risk 10 days before Christmas :spam:

Yeah this pattern in January better be amazing. The end

Yall can call me crazy if you want, but im not normally sold on a pattern change this far out, but based on guidance and the MJO actually heading toward the right phases, i am extremely confident changes will start to happen around new years, though think we dont get cold just yet, You can clearly see the players coming together on the GFS starting around New Years or the day before, NPAC ridging returns, NAO going negative, but the - PNA is really showing up

Gotta keep your expectations low. We live in the south after all. When it snows it’ll be that much more sweeter.

Think for most expectations/bar is very low. Bothersome part is always 2 weeks away.

December so far has been variable, just pretty much the expectation this far.

The cold has vanished when it got closer, but so has the Pacific Blowtorch, we might be in a pattern change or in one where the models have high difficulty forecasting.

Believe it or not the EPS has a few members with some snow around Christmas here(actually looks mostly like the 23rd)

Now every other signal has fallen apart inside 5 days so I'm not exactly holding my breath or anything

Of course Denver's forecast looks pathetic the entire stretch above our average high even :spam:

The warm pattern is going to continue through the rest of december, however its definitely going to be coming to an end as we start January, its going to be an interesting month, i personally would not be concerned about seeing all that red on noaas map, give it a few weeks and im very confident winter is going to comeback with a vengeance

I hope you're right because if this winter isn't way better than the last two here I'm gonna seriously question things

Brent I hope I am lol, I domt think i can take a repeat of the last 2 winters which have been pretty mediocre , but when most of the guidance shows that -EPO coming back at the end of the month, it at least gets my confidence that something is going to change

Nothing here is indicative of a blowtorch. It’s simply a map that shows we have a 60% chance of having temps “above normal”. Is that 1° above or 50°’s above? They don’t include that info. It’s very typical in December to have temps 1-5% above normal (at least a couple of days). Stay calm everyone….

NOAA CPC maps have always been over blown IMO, these map forecast more times than not end in a bust. You are correct with the variant of degrees, half way through December and the monthly mean is +1.0 so there's your RED color

One thing I’m confident about heading towards late December and that’s a big block over Hudson Bay.

I 100% agree with everything you said! NOAA is a bit dramatic at times with bright, pretty colors!
