So in other words, long ways to go lol

Long ways to go for the GFS.

Haha facts!

We've got the general theme of generally cold weather a week from now, but there's still a ton of details to hash out in the leadup. For example, the CMC has a bundle of mid-level vorticity moving down the central Mississippi River valley this Friday into Saturday. That doesn't look like much, but it's enough to send a surface high pressure careening down the Central Plains. The GFS and ECWMF don't really show this.

The result? A comical difference between the CMC and the GFS. Check out these model images for 12Z Saturday. It's pretty funny to look at the nearly 180° difference in low-level wind, and leads to 20-30°F temperature differences. You can imagine such massive differences have plenty of downstream effects. For example, the CMC has temperatures Sunday morning in the mid-teens. The GFS? In the 60s.

GFS has basically a blizzard at the end of its run. As fantasy as it gets though, just eye candy.

Also latest GEFS mean has us well below freezing in the 5th-8th period.

Summer's for hibernation, Winter’s my vacation

Don't use my posts as forecast, I'm a complete meteorology noob! I just like cold weather, alright?

All observations I post are for Temple, Texas unless otherwise stated.

TWC showing an icy mix Saturday night ending as snow Sunday

Pretty consistent lol, but man the GEPS 00z is pretty bullish on winter weather potential at day 7, I know we got a ways to go, but I know I cant be the only one getting excited at seeing the potential of what this pattern could deliver

Makes sense to me. -NAO and a SE ridge kinda keeps things west. And depending on the density and cold, could go right down the Rockies.

Models have been trending away from eastern tpv lobe and growing the western trough idea. That's good for all of us, as we get closer we want to see the pieces of energy strengthen and trend further south in the under 144hr range.

Well that's upsetting, Lol it seems to happen more often than not, DFW missing out on snow to the north and snow to the south.

I would if I knew how. But it is available. U just got to dig around a little. It is pretty amazing depending on where you live. At the moment, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama as a few states, look to be slammed with as much as 15+ inches of snow in the central parts of those respective states. January 15th time frame as the storm moves east out of Texas. A deep LP system is forecast to form south of the Houston area.
