Turkey......for Thanksgiving....

#1 Postby Guest » Sun Nov 23, 2003 8:07 pm

What part of the turkey do you like best - the dark meat or the white meat??? We are having a traditional baked turkey with dressing - but also we are having fried turkey. So guess what I'm gonna be eating turkey until Christmas. LOL

My favorite is the dark meat and I love the fried turkey - great eating.

White meat for me...usually have a baked "T-bird" for Thanksgiving. :) Have had fried turkey at some friends' house who have my folks and I over every year for a New Year's Eve dinner. :)

White meat all the way..... I haven't decided if I am frying the bird this year or baking. All we usually buy is a Turkey breast because none of us care too much for the dark meat.

White meat for me...i stuff my turkey with bellpepper, garlic & Tony Chachere's seasoning and bake it.

I like fried turkey but at Thanksgiving and Christmas I bake a turkey for the gravy.

If we fry our turkey, we will use the giblets to make the gravy. I know, its not quite the same, but it is still good.

We're taking our gobbler to the grocer's and having it smoked (shows scenes of Bob Cratchit's house, doesn't it?), but I prefer WHITE meat...and can't have "giblet" gravy at all...liver, even bits of it, makes me violently ill.

I used to always just like the eat white turkey meat... but have gotten used to eating the dark meat, in recent years.

So I would have to say, "I prefer white over dark." :)

I prefer the dark meat, this may sound kinda wierd but HEY..y'all know me "LOL!" I LOVE the neck! I boil the giblets for the stock for the stuffing, then I'll eat the neck, cut the gizzard and liver into pieces for the dressing.

I've had fried turkey, it's GGgggreat! This year, I'm smokin' mine too Bill, I've got my own smoker, using *applewood*......best wood for smokin' bar none!

Prefer the dark meat. It has more flavor.

I hate dry food. I love the dark meat, because it is generally jucier. I bake a juicy turkey, but still like about a quart of gravy on my plate. :D

I love the white meat but lately I have been nibbling on the drumstick and it is very good.
