Nice! The cold is a blessing. Snow is just icing on the cake.

I'm hoping the southern row of counties gets upgraded to WSW pink. An extra blanket to cover my leg that's hanging off the side of the bed.

NWS just upgraded to a WSW from a watch for Montague county. I’m right on the border of Montague and Wise County, in Wise county. Currently sitting at 27 degrees on my weather station and should be a mostly snow event for us tomorrow, although not that widespread of an event for us.

Will we wake up to like that faithful Feb 11, 2010 Thursday (coincidence?) morning to all the posts "WOW", "oh my GOD", etc when 2 inches fell and it was 34 degrees?

Re: Texas Winter 2024-2025
My temp has dropped to 33, 2 degrees lower than in the NWS forecast for this time. Now we watch if clouds come in too soon and keep the forecast on track, as often something seems to keep it on track. Wind is low, so hopefully it doesn't switch south for awhile.

Re: Texas Winter 2024-2025
Freeze line has sagged south of I20 already across Texas. 31 here in Lindale which is round 3 degrees lower than expected at this time. Not sure how much effect that has in the end but def can't hurt to have 12+ hours below freezing before onset even if onset warms things some.
Most schools have already closed around here.

Well it’s going to be called Winter Storm Cora. I’m still not used to naming winter storms.

The "idea" (I guess) was to get the public (including state and local officials/resources) to treat these as more serious weather events (similar to tropical system impacts) since they can cause major disruptions to life and property. My issue isn't so much about the names, it's the overkill of naming anything that drops a few inches of snow across the country and tagging it with a name. 2021 event type scenario obviously a different deal and that one was named as well.
